IBM SmartCloud Email Management Express offers an expanded portfolio of integrated email continuity and recovery, archiving and business outage and disaster notification services to help you protect, archive and access your organization’s email in the event of a disruption or legal discovery requirement. Leveraging a common service platform to make efficient use of storage and infrastructure, email management express supports both Microsoft® Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes® software and runs on a variety of operating systems, in a wide range of IT environments.

Facilitating highly reliable, continuous access to email During both planned and unplanned outages, our comprehensive, cloudbased standby email system can be activated in minutes to help ensure email is continually accessible and messages are not lost or bounced back. Optional services help ensure wireless devices, such as BlackBerry devices, can also continue to send and receive email, with full access to contacts and calendars. Once the outage is resolved, email management express can help recover and restore email messages to the primary email system using automated capabilities that simplify the process by allowing you to choose whether to recover by message, user, storage group or server. Unlike traditional backup methods, our email recovery service can help you nearly eliminate any data loss by enabling the recovery of messages sent and received since the last good backup.

Simplifying legal discovery and storage management with advanced archiving Email management express offers a comprehensive, easy-to-maintain email archiving solution that enables you to store historical email offsite, based on your own retention and deletion policies. From an administrative console, retention policies and email review can be created and maintained, eliminating the complexity of multiple and potentially conflicting policy interfaces. Through an architecture that allows you to store a single copy of messages and attachments in one place and uses that single copy for both continuity and archiving purposes, email management express helps optimize your storage management, enabling you to quickly retrieve information, while potentially reducing primary data stores by as much as 80 percent. With discovery search tools and support for more than 400 different types of attachments, this solution offers near sub-second searches across headers, body, subject lines, file content and more to help you find critical emails quickly. A rapid archive service is also available for organizations looking for less extensive archiving capabilities.

Promoting effective business outage and disaster communication and collaboration Email management express offers an optional business outage and disaster notification and collaboration service that enables you to use a hosted, web-based communication platform to contact employees and customers through email, short message service (SMS), fax and voice during a business outage and disaster. The unique two-way communication lets you deliver instructions and collect information during the event, and even automatically progress through a pre-defined escalation plan. An optional web-based event collaboration center enables employees to share information over the Web to assign and track tasks as events unfold with near real-time incident logs.
