Programming All activity waivers must be completed by Check -In on Monday.

Outdoor Skills Hiking This may include activities such as hiking, orienteering, and Leave No Trace principles. The goal here is to acquaint campers with techniques to safely and respectfully navigate their outdoor environment. REI Pinnacle Climb (Paddle N Adventure 10-11) Standing 65 feet tall, the REI Rock Climbing Pinnacle has been an iconic feature of the Seattle landscape since the REI Flagship store’s grand opening in 1996. Pinnacle climbers are treated to spectacular views of the Seattle skyline as well as peek-a-boo view of the surrounding mountains on a clear day. Paddle Sports Campers will be introduced on how to use kayaks, paddle boards and Corcls. This activity is focused on being comfortable on the water crafts and practice using paddles. This activity takes place on Lake Union. Lake Sammamish Paddle (Paddle N Adventure 10-11) Campers will explore Lake Sammamish on kayaks and paddle boards from Kayak Academy! They will learn about paddling, play games and have a chance to practice other outdoor skills that they have learned throughout the week. Low Ropes Course with NW TeamBuilding (Leadership N Challenge 11-13) Located at the South Bellevue Community Center, our campers will work together though a series of challenges. The Low Course program does NOT involve any high element activities that require personal protective equipment and a life safety system. They do require teamwork and creative problem solving skills. High Ropes Course with NW TeamBuilding (Leadership N Challenge 11-13) Located at the South Bellevue Community Center, this unique High Course takes you through many individual and group challenges while you enjoy the view from about 40 feet up. All participants are equipped with harnesses, hard hats and double safety clips and must complete safety training on how to use them. Campers chose their own level of “spicy” when it comes to challenge elements and difficulty, and at least one counselor is on the high ropes with the group. Vertical Obstacle Course (“Vertical Playpen”) with NW TeamBuilding (Paddle N Adventure 10-11) Also located at the south Bellevue Community Center, this Vertical Playpen challenge course consists of several obstacles that campers must navigate to

arrive at the top of the wall. Up to 3 campers are climbing and helping each other on the wall at a time, while the rest of their team assist with group belaying those climbing. Free Swim Our campers will have at least one full hour of free swim where indicated on the schedule. Once a camper passes the deep-end swim check, they are invited to play or practice in the deep-end of the pool. 8ft Deep End Swim Check All swimmers who wish to swim in the deep end will need to do a SNS swim check. This involves swimming across the length of the shallow end doing the front crawl, then jumping in the deep end, back-floating for ten seconds and front crawling the entire length of the deep end.

Summer Camp Character Beads Each camper will receive a WAVE necklace to collect the beads they earn throughout the week. Campers earn beads by demonstrating our SNS Values. Campers are encouraged to bring their necklace from a previous week or summer!

Camp Policies Illness Prevention Mild illnesses are common among children. Safe N Sound requires campers and staff to be symptom free (fever, vomiting, diarrhea etc.) for 24hours before returning to camp. If your child chooses not to participate in free swim, there will be alternative supervised activities on the pool deck. We also ask that all families observe Public Health Regulations, which states that if you have a communicable disease, open wound(s) or have been ill with vomiting or diarrhea in the past two weeks to not have your child swim. Participants may return into our pool after they have been symptom free for two weeks. Medication During Camp Hours Our staff are not licensed to dispense medication. If your child needs medication during camp hours, an authorized adult must come to dispense that medication. Please contact us for more details on this policy. Locker Rooms and Changing Areas In our older pool facility, we currently have only girls and boys bathrooms and shower rooms. There are curtained changing stalls in these locker rooms as well as on pool deck. All campers must rinse in the showers before and after pool time. All campers must remain in their swimsuits when showering. Campers are to use the bathroom and showers that match their gender identity. Individual preferences are to be communicated to the camp director prior to the start of camp. Changing locations will be determined by the camp staff members to best fit supervision ratios and their group’s needs (ex: a group that has two female counselors may choose to have all of their camp group, or just the boys, change at the curtained on-deck changing stalls. Or a camp group that needs

206-285-9276

to stay focused during changing time, may opt to use the on-deck changing stalls). Personal Property During Camp hours, campers cannot be in possession of and/or use any electronic devices, animals/pets, drugs, alcohol, weapons, personal vehicles or any personal sport equipment. Summer Camp Cancellation Policy Full refund when cancelled more than 30 days prior to the camp start date. 50% refund when cancelled 21 days prior to the camp start date. No refund when cancelled within 14 days prior to the camp start date.

Electronics Policy Cell phones, tablets, mp3 players and other electronics are unnecessary at camp so please do not bring them! Any electronic devices seen being used will immediately be confiscated by camp staff and put in the directors’ possession until the end of the day. Camp staff will have their phones on them in case of emergency and will be held to the same standard as the campers.

Camp Safety Rules ✓ Be Respectful - language, space bubbles, treatment of others, listening, toys and equipment ✓ Be Safe - walking, voices, pool rules, lunches/snacks, hands to ourselves, staying with the group, buddy system (groups of three) ✓ Be Responsible - your belongings and cubby, cleaning up camp games, your actions (honesty) ✓ Be Kind - words, positive attitude, fair play, invite others to play (inclusive) ✓ Try Everything – Outdoor Adventure camp does many activities that may be out of our camper’s normal comfort zone, but we never grow if we never try. We expect all participants to at least try the team building games, activities and challenges to build skills, team unity and confidence.
