tart your day with Eggs and Issues when Ben Taylor from the US Chamber of Commerce will be our speaker at our April 21 BREAKFAST to discuss what is going on in Washington, D.C. and legislation pertinent to businesses. Learn about what’s happening (and not happening) in Washington, DC, and participate in an interactive dialogue with topics which will include, but not be limited to: health care (ACA repeal/repair/replace/etc.), tax reform, infrastructure, and regulatory rollback and reform.  Please take note that this will be a breakfast beginning at 7:30 am and will end at 9:00 am. We will be meeting at Heritage Golf Club, 3525 Heritage Club Drive, and reservations are required by Tuesday, April 18th. Hilliard Women in Business Luncheon- April 12

ho will your next 5 clients be? Attend the April 12 luncheon at the Reception House at Raymond Memorial by Schmidt’s to learn. Teresa Cleveland has helped clients around the world build their business. By looking at where they are and where they want to be, she helps them fill in the gaps so they can systematically land more clients. Reservations are required and need to be made by April 6. 1

Chamber Members Recognized at Annual Meeting

I

t was a wonderful Annual Meeting where the community honored the award winners for 2017. The City of Hilliard Recreation and Parks Department received the “Established Business of the Year” award for all the vibrant programming done in Hilliard’s Station Park which resulted in increased business to Old Hilliard businesses last year bringing thousands of people to the historic district. Owners Sharon and Nate Greiner of Coffee Connections of Hilliard received the “Emerging Business of the Year” for connecting people with various activities and of course, delicious coffee and experience. Mitch Staugler of Northwestern Mutual was honored as the the “Most Involved Chamber Volunteer” due to his continuous service at all events that the chamber hosts.

Volunteer on a Committee - The Taste of Hilliard & Business Expo!

e have an upcoming event which needs volunteers to make them run smoothly.

The Taste of Hilliard & Business Expo which will be held at the Makoy Center on Wednesday, August 2 and we need members on this committee. The responsibilities include helping with the planning of the event, following up with our sponsors, distributing materials, etc. Committees are great ways for chamber members to network with others in a smaller environment while helping the chamber execute fun events! Taste of Hilliard & Business Expo for 2017 Sponsors Needed

ave you heard about one of the premier events held in Hilliard? The 8th Annual Taste of Hilliard & Business Expo will be on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Makoy Center. The booths have sold out every year which demonstrates how enjoyable and beneficial it is for our businesses. Don’t be on the waiting list when it is time to sign up in June! Last year we had 30 restaurants and 50 businesses participate. Over 1200 people came through the doors to taste the food and see what businesses had to offer. What Do You Know About Who Is Running in the Primary?

re you or do you know someone who makes amazing handmade crafts? We are looking for them to apply to the 35th Hollyfest Arts & Crafts Show to be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 Each year brings 5500 people to Hilliard to this premier craft show which features 118 vendors. The vendors who have participated in this and other shows overwhelmingly tell us that this is one of the best run shows in central Ohio. It is a juried show and the application can be found on the Chamber’s website, www.hilliardchamber.org. The deadline is July 1st to turn in the application along with at least 3 photos and $10 jury fee.

GET INVOLVED Charter Review Commission Opportunity

Hilliard City Council is accepting letters of interest and resumes from those interested in volunteering for the City’s Charter Review Commission. The Hilliard City Council has created a Charter Review Commission that will consist of eleven members. City Council will appoint nine members to the commission. The remaining two members will be the Mayor, or his designee, and a current member of City Council. Selected commission members shall be registered voters of the City of Hilliard, will serve without compensation, and can hold no other office or employment in the government of the City of Hilliard. The Charter Review Commission is charged with the duty of reviewing the present Charter of the City of Hilliard for the purpose of recommending to City Council amendments, if any, to be submitted to the electors of the City for approval. When a final recommendation is submitted to Council, the Commission shall be dissolved. The Charter Review Commission will convene its first meeting within thirty days of appointment.
