Instructions for Routine Maintenance For your Endless Pool 1. How do I vacuum my pool? Vacuuming the pool is only required if there is dirt or debris on the floor of the pool that can't be removed by our normal sanitation, filtration, and circulation routine. The Endless Pool comes equipped with three components which will enable you to vacuum your pool: a vac head, vac hose, and telescopic pole. To vacuum the pool, take the following steps: 1) Turn your Water Quality System (WQS) on by switching the timer to the "On" position. 2) Remove the skimmer basket and weir (flapper) from the skimmer. 3) Outside of the pool, connect the vac head to both the vac hose and to the telescopic pole. 4) Submerge the vac head and hose into the pool. 5) Place the unattached end of the vac hose (the end not affixed to the vac head) against the Return line of the pool (the white circular fitting which returns the water from your WQS to the pool). This will fill the vac hose with water as it rests underwater. 6) Without lifting it out of the water, drag the same end of the hose into the skimmer opening and fit the hose into the suction port of the skimmer. Though the hose does not screw into place, it will be held in place by the suction of the WQS. You should now be drawing water from the bottom-side of the vac head in the pool. 7) Using the telescopic hose, slowly drag the vac head over the surface of the pool, picking up debris that rests on the surface of your liner. Should you find that the suction is not strong enough from the vac head, there are ways to improve the strength of your suction. Please call our Customer Service Department should you need to do this. 2. How do I replace a Predator (Clean and Clear) Filter? Replacing the cartridge filter is a task that is relatively easy to accomplish, and needs to be done once your filter pressure has increased by 5 psi from your initial starting pressure. The filter change process is shown on our “Operations and Maintenance” and “Water Quality” videos. The directions below are specifically written for the Predator (Clean and Clear) filter that is used by the majority of our pool owners. If you have another model filter, the Operations and

Maintenance video’s illustration of the filter change provides a good broad overview of the steps involved with any filter change. Predator (Clean and Clear) Filter Replacement Instructions: 1) Be sure your Water Quality System (WQS) will not come on while you are performing this maintenance. This can be done by unplugging the pump at the twist lock outlet or by turning off the circuit breaker to the system. 2) Isolate the pump and filter by closing the ball valves before the pump and after the filter. (The second valve should be after the Hose Bibb, but before the heater). 3) Attach a hose to the Hose Bibb and run it to a drain, or place a bucket under the spout, and then open the Bibb. Release the Air Relief valve on top of the filter dome by turning counter clockwise 1/2 turn. The valve will pop up and let air into the system, allowing water to drain out of the Hose Bibb. Drain about 3-4 gallons to lower the water level below the seam on the filter tank. 4) Remove the black ring by squeezing the tabs underneath the protrusions on each side and turning counter clockwise to release. 5) Pull the top of the filter dome off of the base (This may take some effort). Be sure to place the filter dome right side up after removal, so as not to damage the pressure gauge or air relief valve. 6) Take out the black assembly holding the filter cartridge and slide the filter cartridge up off the black center core. Install a new cartridge, noting that the replacement cartridge has a definitive top and bottom. You can also clean the old one by spraying it out with a garden hose and then soaking it in a bucket of water and filter cleaning solution. If it has been more than 6 months since you have replaced your Nature 2 Purifier, this would be a good time to take the expired cartridges out and place two new ones on end in the bottom of the filter canister, using the round brackets provided. 7) Reinstall by reversing the steps. Align the arrow on the center core with the filter inlet. Be sure to open the ball valves before starting the WQS. 3. Why do I need to repeatedly press the reset button on my electric heater? The Raypak electric heater has a small reset button on its front that will pop out should the temperature in the tube assembly reach 140 degrees F. This temperature-sensitive “hi-limit” switch is part of the safety circuit of your heater. If you need to press the reset button on your heater, it is likely that your heater is staying on after your circulating pump shuts off, allowing the stagnant water in the element tube assembly to get hotter until the hi-limit switch kicks out at 140 degrees, shutting off the heater. The heater will

not start again until someone resets the hi-limit switch by manually pressing the small button on the face of the heater. This problem is likely to recur until either a) the pressure switch inside the heater is adjusted by an electrician, b) the heater is re-installed no more than 5’ above or 5’ below the water level in your pool, or c) the pressure switch is replaced by a flow switch if the heater is more than 5’ below the water level and where relocation is not an option. The owner’s manual for the electric heater describes this issue in further detail. A copy of the heater manual can be found in Technical Bulletin #19 which is located in your Endless Pools Owner’s Manual, and which can be downloaded on our website by clicking here. 4. How do I winterize my Endless Pool? An Endless Pool may be used year round, even in colder climates. If you will not be using the pool during the winter in an area where freezing is a problem, special consideration must be taken to protect the pool and ancillary equipment if either is located outside. The following is a guideline to winterizing your Endless Pool. Please keep in mind that these are only guidelines, and that some site-specific conditions may require additional considerations in order to completely winterize the pool. 1) Drain water in pool to halfway down the stainless steel benches. Remove the corner covers (and optional corner steps) before the water level gets below the top level of the benches. 2) Turn off all the circuit breakers to all electrical equipment. 3) Drain water from filtration lines and equipment. Cover the equipment with a tarp to protect it from the elements or bring the equipment inside. 4) Add chlorine and winterizing algaecide to remaining water in pool, keeping in mind the number of gallons left in the pool. 5) Cover the pool by constructing a 2x4 and plywood deck over the pool opening. Use a tarp to cover the entire pool to prevent water from getting inside the pool. If you have the security cover installed, make sure to leave the cover open before installing the tarp. Try to keep the tarp free of excessive water/snow during the winter to avoid damage to the support platform. 5. How do I clean the underside of my retractable security cover fabric? Cleaning the underside of the cover fabric should be done as needed. The area that typically needs the most attention is in the places where the cover is not resting on the surface of the water. Most of the underside of the cover stays relatively clean because of the chlorine in your pool.

To clean the cover: 1) With the cover in place over the pool, remove the two gray end-caps that are located at the ends of the tracks at the end opposite the roller mechanism. 2) From the same end of the pool, pull the cover through and past the tracks so that there is no excess material remaining on the PVC roller at the other end of the pool. 3) Unfasten the fabric from the roller. 4) Continue to pull the fabric in the same direction until it is no longer in the tracks. 5) Clean the cover as needed, using either a diluted (50/50) Clorox solution or a vinyl fabric cleaner with a stiff, nylon-bristled brush. If the fabric is cleaned outdoors, be careful not to rest the fabric on the grass any longer than is necessary; otherwise, it will kill the grass. To reinstall the fabric, reverse these steps, or refer to Technical Bulletin #5, which is in your Owner’s Manual and available to download on this website. 6. How do I program my new remote control for my Fastlane unit? If you have received a new, replacement remote control for your Fastlane, you will need to program it so that your Fastlane receiver (the electrical control box) can understand the remote’s signal. The remote controls you received with the purchase of your Fastlane have already been programmed. To program a new remote: 1) Remove the lid of your Fastlane receiver. 2) Press and hold the “LEARN” button near the top of the box on the circuit board until the LED light is a solid and steady red. This will take about 2-3 seconds. Release the “LEARN” button. 3) Press and hold any of the buttons on the remote. The remote is programmed successfully once the LED light starts blinking rapidly. To clear the receiver’s memory, simply press and hold the “LEARN” button until the red light goes out. This may take up to thirty seconds. Clearing the receiver memory may be necessary if the receiver is not responding to the remote control and reprogramming the remote was unsuccessful. After clearing the memory, it will be necessary to program the remote again.
