Who is Harvest Bible Chapel Naperville?   

Our Story Mission and Vision Four Pillars

Our Story Harvest Bible Chapel Naperville is the first church plant from Harvest Bible Chapel in Rolling Meadows. In the late 90's, God gave Harvest Rolling Meadows a vision to plant 10 churches in 10 years, so in March 2000, Pastor Ron and his wife Jody, along with 200 people, started a Harvest in Glen Ellyn. We felt God calling us to Naperville, and in October 2007, we purchased a building in Naperville and opened our doors at I-88 and Naperville Road. Since 2000, Harvest has planted over 100 churches in 14 countries.

Mission and Vision Our mission is to make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20). Disciples are real people in process people who are eager to apply what Jesus teaches to their lives. At Harvest, we believe that disciple-making isn't optional; it's an invasional, intentional command from Jesus. The vision of the church is to help real people experience lasting change (2 Corinthians 5:17). This vision of change is accomplished as each disciple becomes a disciple-maker, taking what they have learned and teaching others. ( 2 Timothy 2:2)

Four Pillars The four pillars of the church establish the priorities and values of the ministry. 1. Unceasing prayer: A firm belief in the power of prayer. (Colossians 4:2-3; James 5:16; Jeremiah 33:3) 2. Unapologetic preaching: To proclaim the authority of God’s Word without apology. (Hebrews 4:12; II Timothy 4:1-5) 3. Unwavering witness: To share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with boldness. (Romans 1:16; Matthew 9:36-38) 4. Unashamed worship: To lift high the name of Jesus Christ in worship. (John 12:32; 4:23, 24)

What is the Internship Program?   

Overview Objectives Frequently Asked Questions

Overview Harvest Bible Chapel-Naperville offers internships to enlist and equip individuals for more effective and fruitful ministry. They provide an opportunity for ministry training that contributes to the spiritual, personal and professional development of men and women ministry leaders. Our internships take advantage of our assets, personnel and ministry context to create a unique and rewarding learning experience. TWO TYPES of internships are available: Short-term/Summer: Summer internships last 12 weeks, beginning in May and ending in August. They are best suited for college students or recent graduates who desire to grow in their ministry skills or are considering ministry as a life vocation. Long-term: Long-term internships may begin at any time during the year and last between three and twelve months. They are best suited for graduates and individuals whose schedules allow for in-depth ministry, leadership, and skills training, which is designed to propel the individual forward on the vocational ministry track.

Objectives There are five main objectives to our internship program. EXPOSE the intern to the life and culture of a Harvest Bible Chapel and Harvest Bible Fellowship. EDUCATE the intern with the mission, pillars, doctrine and practices of a Harvest Bible Chapel-Naperville. EQUIP the intern with information, materials and skills necessary for doing ministry. EMPOWER the intern with the essential resources and responsibilities for exercising their spiritual gifts. EVALUATE the intern regarding their experience and learning gained from their internship.

Frequently Asked Questions Will I be paid for an internship? Full-time interns receive a stipend. Part-time interns may be paid or unpaid, depending on ministry budgets and need. Are there benefits included with the compensation? No. Benefits are not included with any of our internships. What will I receive when I complete my internship? Upon completion of the internship program, interns will undergo an evaluation with their immediate supervisor and receive a letter of recommendation from the Executive Pastor. Can I work and intern at the same time? Our internships are typically full-time and offer a variety of experiences (mentoring, coaching, planning, collaborative learning, skill training, etc.) that will help hone and prepare you for future ministry. Internships normally require a 40-50 hour work week, which would make it unmanageable for you to take on a part-time job during your internship. Our desire is for you to have the time, energy and focus to make the most or your internship, as well as balance other top priorities in your life. However, if an opportunity arises that does not interfere with your ministry responsibilities, an exception may be considered. Is there vacation time? Long-term, full-time interns will have paid vacation days according to the following schedule: 8-12 weeks: 13-24 weeks: 25-36 weeks: 37-52 weeks:

3 days + 1 weekend 5 days + 1 weekend 7 days + 2 weekends 10 days + 3 weekends

Are there sick days? You have sick days available, as needed. Should an unusual amount of time off be taken due to illness, a review will be scheduled by your ministry supervisor. How long is my internship? Summer internships last 12 weeks, whereas long-term internships may last up to one year. Who will supervise me? The Pastor or Director of the ministry with which you intern will be your immediate supervisor.

What will my week look like? Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Interns are expected to be in the office at least four days per week. Specific schedules are determined based on the needs of the primary ministry to which the intern is assigned. There will be some weeknight and weekend responsibilities, and interns are expected to attend weekend services at Harvest Bible Chapel Naperville. Do I have to pay for ministry expenses associated with my internship? Any camp, conference, or seminar required by your supervisor will be covered in full by Harvest Bible Chapel Naperville. Mission trips associated with your internship will be covered at a maximum level of 50% of trip costs. Other ministry expenses incurred (e.g., meals, mileage, etc.) will be covered at the discretion of your ministry supervisor under his/her ministry budget. Is there comp time for excessively heavy weeks? Comp time is determined by your immediate supervisor. What is the dress code at Harvest Bible Chapel Naperville? Although the office maintains a casual atmosphere, staff must be dressed in neat and appropriate clothing (i.e. no sweatpants, athletic attire, baseball caps, spaghetti straps, or revealing tops). Athletic attire is appropriate for off-site or sporting events. See Employee Handbook for additional information. What can I expect upon completing my internship? You will receive an exit interview and letter of recommendation at the end of your internship. Are there any employment guarantees after the internship? No. While an internship may lead to a position with Harvest Bible Chapel Naperville or another Harvest Bible Chapel, it is by no means guaranteed. What standards must an intern abide by during an internship? Harvest Bible Chapel Naperville has established standards for living above reproach for all staff. We require interns, during the period of their internship, to adhere to the following guidelines, which are also outlined on page 9 of the Staff Policy Manual. As a staff, we are committed to remaining pure and faithful in our commitments to God and family. As a result of this commitment, we recommend every staff member embrace the moral fences outlined in the Employee Handbook. We understand that the direct interpretation of these standards will differ for those not married. For both single and married staff members, application of these Moral Fences should reflect a lifestyle above reproach.
