Inviting Others Unsure how to bring others along on your journey? Check out the ideas below. If you have another idea, send us an email. We’d love to consider adding it to the list! PRE-TRIP Time • Invite someone to pray for you, the team, those you’ll serve. When asking people to pray, give an itinerary of what you are doing each day and ask them to pray for a specific thing each day. • Invite your kids to find out info online about the country where you’re going. • Have a potluck get together with friends. Ask each of them to bring some type of food that’s normal for the serving location you’ll go to. • Post a picture of your team meeting on Facebook along with a note about why you decided to serve globally or include your Fund-a-Trip link. • Give your kids a journal. Write about what you will be doing each day and how they can pray for you while you are gone. Have your kids write what they do each day while you are gone. When you get home talk through the journal together! (Beneficial for spouses too but maybe they keep an “email” journal.) • Invite friends/family to your team’s prayer send off. Invite them to attend the Eagle Brook service too. • Invite someone to take you to the airport or pick you up. • Invite someone to help while you’re away: babysit, cut lawn, shovel snow, make meals, get mail, or take kids here and there. Talents • Invite someone to: o Edit your support raising email/letter. o Help you make a snazzy video to post on Fund-a-Trip site. o Help you organize or manage a garage sale to raise money for your trip. o Help you pack. Treasures • Pray for you, the team, those you’ll serve. • Invite someone to give money, material donations (if Global partner requested), or something you need for the trip (i.e., “Anyone got a mini-backpack I can use as a day bag on my mission trip?”). ON –TRIP Talent • Blog about the trip (Trip guidelines vary by location. Confirm with trip leader.). POST-TRIP Time • Invite someone to pray for your adjustment home, your team, those you served. When asking people to pray for those you served, give info about their specific needs and why that need exists.

Tell your story of what you learned on your trip in your small group. Offer to be available to tell your mission trip story to your friend’s/spouse’s/kids’ small group. Tell your story to us so EBC can consider telling it to benefit others. Tell your trip story – the full-length version – to a trusted friend. Have a get together with friends at restaurant/coffee shop reflective of the culture you served in. Tell them what God taught you through serving globally. Make up a small photo book or identify a small amount of photos on your phone or iPad to share with people over coffee when you get back when they ask about your trip. Post a trip picture on Facebook along with brief note about either: why you decided to serve globally, what you learned, or that you’re open to connecting with anyone who wants to hear more about your experience. If you gave your kids/spouse a journal pre-trip to write what they did each day while you were gone, now talk through the journal together. Tip: Doing a whole “download” can be overwhelming for them and you. Do it in chunks.
