welcome missionary jaime clore

congregational care

Today, we have the privilege to welcome missionary Jaime Clore. Jaime grew up at Calvary Church and was mobilized into full-time missions in Northern Spain in 2013. For nearly five years he has been partnering with Spanish nationals helping to plant a church in the village of Lugones.

RECENTLY HOSPITALIZED PRAYER LIST If you have been hospitalized, or anticipate hospitalization, and would like to be added to the prayer list, call the church office at 956-9377.

God has answered the prayers of many individuals in the church plant, like Elvira, who prayed for over 30 years that there may be a church in her village. The Christian community has been growing and in the spring of 2017 two elders, Miguel and Alain, were confirmed by the national church. A key aspect of Jaime’s work is his partnerships, not just with the local church, but also with a university outreach group which is a sister organization to Intervarsity, with a regional consortium of Christian youth leaders, and even with businesses in the village. Together, they use a number of creative ways to develop relationships for outreach: CoffeeTalk English conversation group, university Bible studies, one-on-one discipleship, youth retreats and other activities, and much more. On campuses, they offer discussion times where students can “interrogate a Christian” on any topic desired or where they address key questions like, “Is God a male chauvinist?” During his time in the village, Calvary has sent two short-term teams to help with English Camp outreach events. Jaime expressed his deep gratitude for the encouragement of camaraderie and reports that these events have been great blessing to the church plant. The interaction between our teams and Jaime’s church in Spain have been a driving force for the introduction of Calvary’s own Language Café.

Jaime asks for your prayers that he would receive a long term residency permit in Spain, that God would provide to cover his monthly support shortfall before his planned return in March, and that God would sustain him in the long, lonely work of ministering in this region where there is only 1 believer for every 1500 people and only 40 Christ-centered churches for over 1.2 million people.
