jerusalem project - planting churches

congregational care

The Jerusalem Project Steering Committee, formed in early 2018, is tasked with helping Calvary Church be more intentional and systematic in planting new churches, strengthening existing churches, and training residents for ministry. Today in our service we are highlighting the Church Planting focus.

RECENTLY HOSPITALIZED PRAYER LIST If you have been hospitalized, or anticipate hospitalization, and would like to be added to the prayer list, call the church office at 956-9377.

We have the privilege this morning to have Adam Anderson with us. Adam and his family along with a small core group of Calvary families have started meeting in East Grand Rapids as New Heart Church. Church Planting is not new to Calvary; in fact, we have helped plant eleven churches over the past 25 years. The Jerusalem Project’s goal is to prayerfully seek God’s guidance as we look for pastors to send and locations that need Jesus. Please join us in praying for New Heart Church as well as new possibilities for future church plants. Our hope is that you would prayerfully consider how God might want you to be involved in giving to the Jerusalem Project as we continue to serve, equip and build his church in West Michigan and around the world. Give online at mycalvarygr.org, text your $ amount and “JER” to 616-294-0700, or use the giving envelope next to your seat. Thank you. Urbana Scholarship Fund This year we are excited to have a group of thirty young adults and high school students join us as we go to Urbana. Urbana is a five day missions conference in St. Louis where these young people will learn more about what God has for them in His global mission. If you would like to partner with this group, you can donate to the project fund (just drop your checks in the offering plate and mark that it’s for Urbana) and pray for them as they prepare for the conference starting December 27. Partners in Housing Thank you to those who gave time, talent, and resources to work on our first house, House of Hope! We are completing the finishing touches and have already started working on our Christmas Home! Join us as we start renovating the space and supplying the furnishings to help a homeless family move out of a shelter and into a home. Email [email protected] to get involved. Missionary Prayer Guides Missionary Prayer Guides are available at the Chapel Information Center to guide you as you pray for our global and community workers throughout the month of December.

TODAY at calvary church ADVENT BEGINS TODAY On this first Sunday of Advent we light the hope candle. In this season we lament the darkness of our world and acknowledge the longing we have for Christ to return once more and make all things new. Through God’s Word we have a promise of what is to come, a picture of the future He is making for His people. In this season, we imagine what is promised and long for that day when our hope will be fulfilled. In our waiting, we cry, “Come, Lord Jesus, come!” Advent Guides are available in the back of the Sanctuary. This is the same Advent Guide provided in 2017. You can also print the cards at home (calvarygr.org/advent).
