“You inhabit a fallen, disjointed world, where things are constantly unraveling around the edges. Only a vibrant relationship with [Jesus] can keep you from coming unraveled too.” Jesus Calling, Sept. 18 2.

Acts 22:12-16 “A certain Ananias, who was a devout man according to the law and well spoken of by all the Jews living there, came to me; and standing beside me, he said, ‘Brother Saul, regain your sight!’ In that very hour I regained my sight and saw him. 10. Acts 22 1/2

10. Acts 22 1/2

Then he said, ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will, to see the Righteous One and to hear his own voice; for you will be his witness to all the world of what you have seen and heard. And now why do you delay? Get up, be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on his name.’” 11. Acts 22 2/2

Philippians 3:7-11 The Message Bible The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I’m tearing up and throwing out with the trash - along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ. Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. 13. Philippians 3 slide 1/3

13. Philippians 3 slide 1/3

Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant - dog dung. I’ve dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him. I didn’t want some petty, inferior brand of righteousness that comes from keeping a list of rules when I could get the robust kind that comes from trusting Christ - God’s righteousness. 14. Philippians 3 slide 2/3

14. Philippians 3 slide 2/3

I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself. If there was any way to get in on the resurrection from the dead, I wanted to do it. 15. Philippians 3 slide 3/3

Galatians 2:19b-20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 17.

How to know Jesus? Believe. Be still. Be curious. Be willing. Be transparent: authentic, honest, vulnerable. 19.

Romans 8:14-17 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ—if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him. 20.

“I am one in whom Christ dwells and delights. I live in the strong and unshakeable kingdom of God. The kingdom is not in trouble and neither am I.” James Bryan Smith 21.
