Leave Your Classrooms for Large Group

Large Group Starts (Hangar & Wesley Room) Please be on time so that large group can start promptly at 9:20/11:05 ONE ADULT teacher and ALL 4:10ers will go to large group with the children. ONE ADULT teacher will stay in the classroom to prepare the tables for the small group activity after large group & join the class when finished.

Large Group Ends – Classes return to classrooms

IMPORTANT NOTES WE WILL HAVE A LOCKDOWN DRILL TODAY AFTER LARGE GROUP. PLEASE REVIEW THE LOCKDOWN PROCEDURE IN YOUR VOLUNTEER HANDBOOK OR CLASSROOM FLIPCHART. THE CODE WORD IS: CHOCOLATE. 2nd Grader Bible Reader will read today in large group: Job 1:21b The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised!

BIBLE VERSE: Job 1:21b The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised. TODAY’S GOALS  Hear and understand the story of Job.  Know that God does not cause bad things to happen to us to punish us from doing wrong.  Know that we can praise God all the time in good and bad times. As children arrive: 1. WELCOME CHILDREN 2. COUNT TITHES AS THE CHILDREN COME TO CLASS. RECORD THE NUMBER ON YOUR TITHING SHEET (ON THE CLIPBOARD). Page 1

TO BE DONE BEFORE LARGE GROUP Clean Up Toys – Have the children clean up the toys and coloring sheets. Go to Large Group (WESLEY ROOM) at 9:20 or 11:05 – Please be on time. ONE TEACHER STAYS BEHIND TO SET UP FOR THE CRAFT ACTIVITY. THIS TEACHER SHOULD BE THE ONE TO LEAD THE ACTIVITY. LATE CHILDREN SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE WESLEY ROOM TO BE DROPPED OFF.

TO BE DONE AFTER LARGE GROUP LOCKDOWN DRILL (APPROXIMATELY 9:50 AND 11:40) BOOKS OF THE BIBLE REVIEW  Ensure all of the bible book numbers are placed on your class poster and the car is parked at Job (#1-18).  Use the Route 66 Poster to have the children recite the books of the Bible (Genesis – Job)  Explain the difference between the Old & New Testament (Before Jesus/After Jesus).  Make sure each child knows that there are 66 books in the Bible that teach us about God’s promises to us (God loves us, God rescues us). CRAFT ACTIVITY: Job Story Sheet Class Supplies: Markers, Crayons Basket Supplies: Story sheets PLEASE WORK ON THIS AS A CLASS WITH A TEACHER LEADING EACH SQUARE ON THE SHEET. 1. Place markers and crayons on the tables. 2. Give each child a story sheet. The children will color and draw missing items on the sheet as the teacher reads the story and the children discuss each point. Box 1 – Read box 1. Ask the children what things God had. The children color Job and draw the things God blessed him with. Grade 2 can also write the number of each item that Job had. Oxen (cows) – 500 Donkeys - 500 Sheep – 7,000 Camels – 3,000 10 Children – 7 boys, 3 girls Box 2 – Read box 1. The children draw dots on Job’s skin. Box 3 – Read box 2. The children draw a picture to praise or thank God. Box 4 – The children color Job and draw the things God blessed him with (twice as many). Oxen (cows) – 1,000 Donkeys – 1,000 Sheep – 14,000 Camels – 6,000 10 Children – 7 boys, 3 girls 3. Page 2
