This year, the State of the Community will take place at Lamar Elementary School. This brand new, state-of-the-art campus will provide the perfect backdrop for our event. Envision Mineral Wells, and the unveiling of the new destination brand for Mineral Wells will be this year’s focus. Sponsorships are available. Team Mineral Wells to Converge at State Capitol A local delegation will make a visit to the State Capitol in Austin during the 85 th Legislative Session to begin developing partnerships with our elected officials and state agencies. This effort is a strategic component of Envision Mineral Wells that many community and business leaders have been engaged with over the past year. Our trip includes meeting with our State Senator Craig Estes, newly elected State Representative Mike Lang, and State Representative Phil King. We will also be planning to meet with agencies that include the Governor’s Office of Economic Development to discuss aviation, tourism, and manufacturing; Texas Workforce Commission; Texas Education Agency; the Higher Education Board; TXDOT; Commission for the Arts; Texas Historical Commission; Health and Human Services; and Texas Parks and Wildlife. The local delegation attending the trip will host a reception during the evening everyone arrives for State Representatives and Senators for an opportunity to network and discuss the upcoming legislative session. Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent meeting with state agencies where we will express our desire to become better partners and make them aware of the community’s recent efforts with Envision Mineral Wells. We are pleased to a have a strong showing of support from our local community with 25 individuals attending to represent Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County. Now accepting applications for Leadership Mineral Wells Class 23 Do you want to enhance your leadership skills, learn more about our community and develop lifelong business relationships? Leadership Mineral Wells Class 23 is the education course you must take! The class will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month from 8am to 4pm. We will tour businesses, develop leadership skills and address challenges and successes in our community. Orientation is February 23, 2017 at 9am in the Chamber Community Room. On March 3-4, we will have a mandatory overnight retreat at Camp Grady Spruce where we will engage in team building and begin exploring leadership styles. Another important date will be September 28, 2017, where we will be at the State Capitol, for Palo Pinto County Day. The cost to participate in this course is $500 and it includes all meals and materials. For more information or to request an application, call Marcelinda at 940-325-2557.
