JANUARY 2019

If you’re a grown-up and you’ve been following Jesus for a while, you’ve probably figured out a few ways to grow spiritually. The kids you're parenting or leading, on the other hand, aren’t grown-ups, so they might need a little help from you to figure out how, exactly, to grow spiritually. So what should spiritual growth look like for a kid? We like to think about it in terms of four spiritual habits. To help a kid grow spiritually, teach them to spend time with God, spend time with others, use their gifts, and share their story. These are the four keys to discipleship that will help kids launch a lifelong, growing faith.

GROW THIS MONTH

WEEK 1

WEEK 3

This week, kids will learn the story of Jesus visiting the home of Mary and Martha and the importance of spending time with God.

This week, kids will learn about how Peter and John shared the Gospel with courage and be challenged to share their own story of faith with others.

 THE BIG IDEA: We can spend time with God.  THE BIBLE: Luke 10:38-42 (Psalm 46:10; Colossians 4:2).

 THE BIG IDEA: We can share God's story.  THE BIBLE: Acts 4:1-20 (I John 3:18; Colossians 4:4-6).

WEEK 2

WEEK 4

This week, kids will learn the story of the paralyzed man who is brought to Jesus as they discover that other people can help our faith grow — and we can do the same for them.

This week, kids will learn the story of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet and be encouraged to follow Jesus' example of serving others with compassion.

 THE BIG IDEA: People can help grow our faith.  THE BIBLE: Mark 2:1-12 (I Corinthians 15:33; Matthew 5:13; Galatians 6:1-2; Philippians 1:4; Proverbs 18:24).

 THE BIG IDEA: We can serve others.  THE BIBLE: John 13:1-17, 34-35 (Romans 12:6-8; Mark 12:29-33).
