The Service for the Lord’s Day Third Sunday of Epiphany Youth Sunday

WE GATHER TO WORSHIP Greeting One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. All: And also with you. One: Let us prepare for worship. Preparation for Worship

O God, glorious and faithful, to those who seek you with a sincere heart you reveal the beauty of your face. Strengthen us in faith to embrace the mystery of the cross, and open our hearts to its transfiguring power; that, clinging in love to your will for us, we may walk the path of discipleship as followers of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

What is the mission of the church? The mission of the church is to bear witness to God’s love for the world in Jesus Christ. What forms does the mission take? The church’s mission takes a wide variety of forms, including evangelism, work for social justice, and ministries of care. Yet the center is always the same: Jesus Christ. In every case the church extends mercy and forgiveness to the needy in a way that points finally to him. Who are the needy? The hungry need bread, the homeless need a roof, the oppressed need justice, and the lonely need fellowship. At the same time, the hopeless need hope, sinners need forgiveness, and the world needs the gospel. Our mission as the church is to bring hope to a desperate world by declaring God’s undying love - as one beggar tells another where to find bread. So, what is God’s purpose for your life? God wills that I should live by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, for the love of God, and in the communion of the Holy Spirit. WE GO IN GOD’S NAME

*Hymn - Bless the Lord, Tell of His Salvation (see insert) *Charge and Benediction

*Closing Response Hymn - Come with me (Hamba Nathi) Come with me for the journey is long (4x) The journey, the journey, the journey is long (4x) *Chiming of the Trinity

The worship service ends with the Chiming of the Trinity. Please be mindful of those who remain to listen to the postlude.

*Postlude - We are Marching in the Light of God

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer (8:15) Ella Reaves Vaughan; (9:30) Trey Tierney; (11:00) Chandler Lilly Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Presentation of Tithes and Offerings

*Offertory Response Hymn - Thank You, Lord! Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord! I just want to thank you, Lord!

The Service for the Lord’s Day Third Sunday of Epiphany Youth Sunday

January 27, 2019 8:15, 9:30 & 11:00 a.m.

Amen.

We will package breakfast bags for Meals on Wheels that get delivered along with daily lunches. We will also make bookmarks for Wake Up and Read, a Wake County literacy program that provides books to children in low performing schools.

WakeUp and Read is collecting new and gentlyused books for children ages birth-12. Our goal is to collect 110,000 books to share at 13 schools, community centers and childcare facilities across Wake County. Help us to ensure that every child in our community has the opportunity to develop a love for reading. Drop off books in The Connector during the month of February. For more 110,000 BOOKS information contact: https://wakeupandread.org.
