CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord Jesus Christ, Whom the wise have always sought and worshipped, we confess we have often behaved like fools: ignoring Your Majesty, neglecting Your worship, forgetting Your promises, and forsaking Your commands. Please forgive us for these and all our sins against Your Divine Majesty, for we are truly sorry and we humbly repent. Grant to us a holy wisdom that we, like the Wise Men of old, may bow before Your throne and render to You our very lives, that You may be forever praised. Amen. Join us tonight for Sunday Night Worship “Called to Be Holy” Jon Becker, preaching · Communion There couldn’t be a more encouraging way to begin the new year than a study of Paul’s letter to the believers in Corinth. He writes to them, reminding them of their status as God’s covenant and set-apart people. The Gospel is revealed to be not just what brings us into the Kingdom, but also what bears us along, giving our lives buoyancy in spite of our bad choices, sin-laced nature, and all that would drag us down. His grace, his gift to us, is a sanctified life.

Weekly Focus on Mission Partners

World Missions: Terry and Cathie Atkinson serve with Mediterranean Missions in Italy and Greece. During many months in 2008, Terry and Cathie cared for four of their grandchildren (the children of their daughter Adele, who had to be in England for treatment of serious illness. During the summer, their mom healed sufficiently for the children to join their parents in England. Terry and Cathie have stayed in touch with three smaller congregations who needed help. The Atkinsons are visiting these congregations regularly. Terry is preaching and holding prayer meetings, and both the Atkinsons are leading Bible studies. These congregations are located in Italy and on the mainland of Greece. The Tuscany Church had been carrying on with no ministerial assistance at all. These congregations are encouraged by the Atkinsons, who, in turn, express themselves to the people of Second: ”How warmly we appreciate your love, support and your prayers.” MissionUSA: Please pray for Carson Weitnauer at InterVarsity-Harvard as a new executive leadership team comes together for the fellowship. Pray for God to raise up new InterVarsity staff for Harvard-Radcliffe Christian Fellowship and pray for final preparations for Veritas 2009. Carson is the director for the conference and greatly needs God’s wisdom and heart as he finalizes the remaining details.
