Adult Sunday School Class In adult Sunday school, we will be returning to the course Striving for Holiness where we will wrestle with the often confusing issue of the role of our "will" in our walk with Christ. Adult Sunday School: Growing Pains – Striving for Holines: In Hebrews chapter 12, the people of God are exhorted to strive for holiness. It is easy to say “amen”, but oh so hard to actually do it! Why do we still continue to sin – and so much? Is growth in holiness really possible? Does personal holiness even matter, or is it just an illusion of self-righteousness? How do we go about putting the old self to death and putting on the new? How do we understand God’s role and our responsibility? Is there a way to make consistent progress in holiness, or are we condemned to fits and starts with one step forward and two step back as we go? In this course we’ll take an honest look at ourselves and what the Bible has to say on this critical element of our salvation. Holiness is an old-fashioned word and an unfashionable concept. It is nevertheless, essential. Come and join some fellow sinners as we struggle together to grow.

Larger Catechism, Q#171: How are they that receive the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper to prepare themselves before they come unto it? A. They that receive the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper are, before they come, to prepare themselves thereunto, by examining themselves of their being in Christ, of their sins and wants; of the truth and measure of their knowledge, faith, repentance; love to God and the brethren, charity to all men, forgiving those that have done them wrong; of their desires after Christ, and of their new obedience; and by renewing the exercise of these graces, by serious meditation, and fervent prayer.

World Missions Partnerships Please pray for the following missionaries supported by CTK: Calvin & Geeta Taylor (Nathan and Karuna) serving in North India. Chuck & Barbara Angert serving in North India. India/Bhogpur Children’s Home John & Terri and family serving in the Muslim World Raymond & Sharon serving in West Eurasia Philip & Joy Kirkland Philip & Joy Καλό μήνα! (or “kalo mina!” literally- “happy month”) It’s the greeting you offer everyone you meet at the beginning of each month here in Greece. The Lord has brought several new believers to the Persian church, and we are glad that some are very close to receiving government papers to allow them to stay and work in our city. This is vital to the development of the church. Joy’s work with Nea Zoi has kept her quite busy. A small business is launching this fall to help women who have escaped sexual exploitation to continue rebuilding their lives and supporting their families. Joy has been working closely with this group, doing counseling and helping the staff during this phase of development. We are also excited for a young couple's discipleship group that Philip is leading at the Greek Evangelical Church that will be meeting in our home this fall. Chuck and Barbara Angert Chuck and Barbara have just moved to Delhi. The Presbytery has asked Chuck to train and mentor their young workers, and help strengthen their one English congregation (and hopefully start more). Barbara will continue with women’s development ministries (and limited training of therapists). Pray for God’s continued blessing as they get set up and settle into life and ministry there. Raymond and Sharon Thistlethwaite Our trip up to the mountains in September was marked by terrifying travel, breath-taking scenery, warm friendship and an overwhelming sense of God's provision. We are making plans to move in the spring to the village we visited, and are excited to begin living, working and learning in a small community that has already made us feel welcome. We are very thankful for a good trip and the friendships formed while we were there. Please pray for us as we navigate the legal hurdles in order to get residency in this country. Please pray for our health this winter, and for progress in language learning. We praise God as we celebrated Mikayla's 2nd birthday in January, thankful for such a gift from Him that doctors said would never come. We praise God for our two sweet girls, who are always happy to see and play with one another. Thank you for all of the support and prayers,

Women In The Church (WIC) Dana McGahey (WIC Council President), Liz Hudson & Michele Eichert (Fellowship Committee), Debbie DeLecce (Education Committee), Lauren Elban (Mercy Ministry Committee)

The Women's Saturday Bible Study The Women's Saturday Bible Study will be meeting at Sharon Tobin's home on January 10th at 9:30am. We are studying Galatians using Tim Keller's "Galatians for You". If you have any questions, please contact Charlotte Schmucker at 610-647-1362. Food Collection: WIC will conduct a food collection for the Colonial Neighborhood Council on the third Sunday of each month. A box will be placed in the back of the church to collect canned vegetables and fruits, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, rice, spaghetti sauce, baby food, diapers, toilet paper, soup, stew or canned meat. Look for the box on January 18th! Please contact Michele Eichert with any questions ([email protected]). Young Lives: On behalf of the staff and volunteers of YoungLives of the Delaware Valley, please accept our deepest thanks. As donations of cash and gifts for teen moms and their children poured in, members of our church family helped "lift the needy from the ash heap" I Samuel 2:8. Because of your generosity, twelve teen mothers and their twenty one children received personal Christmas gifts from Christians. Our goal of $25 gift cards for each mom was easily reached and surpassed! Each Walmart gift card had a value of $45. God is not unjust to forget your labor of love and giving. Thank you for showing forth Christ, our King, to unwed parenting teens in Norristown. Deonna, the volunteer club leader, reports the thanks are still coming in from these young women and they are all truly grateful for our congregation's overwhelming response. Michele Eichert deserves thanks for working out the practical details of gift delivery. WIC meeting: The next Women in the Church (WIC) council meeting will be on January 5th. If you have any suggestions or concerns please contact Dana McGahey ([email protected], 610.337.9028).

Kingdom Opportunity Seminar: One January 10th New Life Presbyterian Church in Glenside, PA will be hosting a conference titled “Gospel Sexuality: Raising Sexually Healthy Kids”. This one-day seminar for parents of young children and teens will bring practical, biblical wisdom to encourage and equip parents to disciple their children’s hearts and help them grow in their faith to face the sexual confusion and chaos of their world. The cost is $50 per person/$80 per couple (lunch provided). Please visit https://rshkjan2015.eventbrite.com for tickets or more info.

Shepherding Groups God has been pleased to provide care for his church through the ministry of elders. In the PCA, we have both ruling and teaching (pastors) elders. The elders seek to care for the church together as a session, and through personal connections with the members of the church. Some key passages in Scripture that describe this care are found in Luke 22:24-27, John 21:15-19, Acts 20:17-38, 1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, Hebrews 13:8, 17 and 1 Peter 5:1-5. Our session has divided the members of Christ the King into three shepherding groups corresponding to our present three ruling elders. Our hope is that this will be a valuable component of caring for one another and growing together in the faith. You can expect your elder to pray for you, get to know and love you, assist you in your Christian walk, to be available and to visit or call you at least once a year. Please be in prayer for your elder and for all the session (Hebrews 13:18). Please let your elder know of any special prayer needs or ways that they can serve and shepherd you well.
