II. What does the resurrection mean for me? A. That everything Jesus taught is true. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

B. That there is a promise of eternal life for me. “and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:26

Many ask, “What happens when we die?”

Jesus IS Alive! Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,” John 11:25

I. Did Jesus really rise from the dead?

But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 1 Corinthians 15:20-21

We have a glimpse of our promise: 1. We will have a real identity.

And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:14

But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body. 1 Corinthians 15:38

Consider the evidence:

Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8

A. Jesus really died. And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last.

Mark 15:37

B. There really was an empty tomb. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. Mark 16:5-6

C. Jesus really rose from the dead. After these things he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them. Mark 16:12-14

The most compelling evidence is the behavior of the disciples. But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. Acts 3:14-15 greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. having a hope in God, which these men themselves accept, that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust. Acts 24:15

2. We will be imperishable. So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. 1 Corinthians 15:42

3. We will be like Jesus. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2

C. That I have good news to tell. And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Mark 16:15-16

“. . . Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.” Revelation 1:17b-18 Northshore Media #180401 KJL
