Director of Admissions Vice President of Student Life and Enrollment Management

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Director of Admissions will oversee the day-to-day operations in admissions, including recruiting activities, research and planning, print and electronic communications, training of staff, budget management, marketing plans, and other recruitment activities. The Director will represent Denver Seminary at events on and off campus, and will stay abreast of trends in higher education, new and emerging technologies, and the recruitment market place. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time and frequent bending, stooping or stretching. Work is performed in an office environment and requires working at a computer for extensive periods of time; eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, the ability to distinguish letters and symbols, corrected vision and hearing within normal range. Requires speaking and writing proficiently in the English language. Requires working under occasional stressful conditions. Requires the use of office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, copiers, adding machines, fax machines. High contact with members of the seminary community and external public. Work is generally fast-paced and challenging. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. In coordination with the Vice President for Student Life and Enrollment Management, develop recruitment strategies, plans and goals to attract a diverse and highly qualified student applicant pool consistent with Denver Seminary’s enrollment goals and objectives. 2. Provide supervision, training and coordination of recruiters. 3. Market the school to a wide, yet targeted audience to increase prospective student pool and applicant yield. 4. Implement innovative and effective marketing plans and techniques. 5. Oversee campus visits, student previews, campus tours and home visit programs. 6. Make professional and persuasive presentations to prospective applicants in various venues. 7. In coordination with the Vice President, work with staff to determine an appropriate schedule of external seminary representation on feeder school campuses, conferences, conventions, etc. The Director of Admissions will personally participate in the visitation of these and other places. 8. Coordinate recruitment efforts with presidential, faculty, and alumni travel and events. 9. Convey information and advice to prospective students via email, publications, telephone, and in-person interactions with respect to admissions procedures, degree programs, student life and other related topics.

10. Provide direct oversight to all communication portals and strategies from lead generation to matriculation. 11. Prepare and present completed applicant files to the admissions committee for consideration and action. 12. Maintain a working understanding of the Student Services management framework and goals as set forth by the Vice President and other members of the seminary’s administration. 13. Promote teamwork, collaboration, and resource sharing across the Student Life and Enrollment Management department. 14. Work with the Vice President on other duties that further the recruiting/ admissions potential of the seminary. EDUCATION/TRAINING/SKILLS: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Five years of related experience and a general record of professional success. Experience with student enrollment or customer service software, marketing and sales. Management and interpersonal skills. Commitment to discern and maintain confidentiality. Able to communicate effectively in both written and oral form. Excellent public speaking, team leadership, and analytical skills. Ability to give careful attention to detail. Experience with and understanding of enrollment management systems. Computer competent, knowledge of Microsoft Office essential, knowledge of administrative software strongly desired. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the intricacies of theological education, degree program requirements, competencies and training required for various ministries, federal/state policies and regulations related to student enrollment, special needs of groups such as international students and racial/ethnic minorities. A forward planner and goalsetter that continually assesses performance.
