Student Services Adviser • Architecturally designed, award winning campus • Conveniently located in the City’s West End • Be part of a global education provider

• Maximum Term contract of 12 months The Student Services Adviser acts as a conduit between student needs and internal and external services, which can assist student wellbeing and academic success. A particular focus of the role is to assist students when personal circumstances are having an adverse impact of their education and provide assistance to these students via shortterm and crisis counselling as well as referral to other internal and external support mechanisms. Student Services Advisers are also required to establish and maintain relationships with primary health care networks, counselling services, disability services, legal advice, accommodation and other welfare services available within the local area to SAE’s students. The role is also responsible for the advocacy and promotion of the institutes’ wellbeing and safety initiatives at the local campus level. The Student Services Adviser will work closely with the local campus manager and National Manager of Student Experience to customise national wellbeing and safety initiatives to the specific needs of the campus. Student Services Advisers may also be called upon to support the application of the Institutes Critical Incident Policy. Student Services Advisers are responsible for the timely and accurate capture and reporting of data. The Student Services Adviser act as part of a wider strategy student wellbeing initiatives, designed to enhance student engagement, participation and attainment of academic qualifications.

Essential Skills & Experience • A degree in a relevant area (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science) and relevant work experience; or a diploma in a relevant area (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science) and extensive relevant work experience; • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; • Demonstrated capacity to provide professional services in at least two of the service areas (i.e. career advice, learning assistance, international student support, disability advice and personal counselling), and the capacity to rapidly acquire knowledge of, and skills to perform the duties of all service areas; • Sound understanding of current theories and best practice in the areas of claimed expertise; • Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation, including the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000, the National Code 2017, as well as the Disability Standards for Education 2005 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth); • Experience in the development and delivery of programs, resource materials, workshops and seminars to students using a diverse range of delivery methods; • Demonstrated experience in working in an electronic environment and delivering online information which is web enabled; • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, consult and negotiate with key stakeholders; • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a flexible team environment; • High level of computer proficiency in corporate systems and Apple as well as Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Expertise in tertiary education, preferably both Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training (VET).
