JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Intake Coordinator (GA Level II)—28 hours/week REPORTS TO: Director of Shepherd’s Gate GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Intake Coordinator is responsible for initial assessment and screening of requests for counseling at Shepherd’s Gate Counseling Center. This includes assessing for level of care needed, lethality issues, and any pending legal issues. The Clinic Assistant assigns clients to practicum students and interns as appropriate and consults with the Clinic Director, Clinical Training Director and Clinical Training Assistant as needed. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity for computer-related duties, and the ability to distinguish letters or symbols. Requires the use of office equipment, such as a computer and keyboard, telephone and copiers. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range. May require occasional lifting up to 20 pounds up to waist height. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:  Screen client calls and conduct intake interviews to assess client needs.  Assign clients to student counselors.  Assist clinic personnel in marketing and outreach efforts.  Use the clinic scheduling and recording software to ensure that client sessions are accurately schedule and recorded.  Assist in preparation and training of students for practicum.  Other tasks as assigned. EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Must be enrolled or recently graduated from MA Counseling (Licensure) program at Denver Seminary. Current student must have completed Practicum by start of position.  Understands the importance of client confidentiality and can keep information confidential.  Experience with administrative tasks is preferred. QUALIFICATIONS:  Number and type of counseling classes completed, grade-point average, flexibility, availability and references from professors as well as life experience will be considered.  Above average verbal and written communication skills and familiar with proper telephone etiquette.  Is a mature person of integrity and is confident and professional when working with other students, professionals and the public.  Is self-motivated, takes initiative and yet works well under authority.  Enjoys being a team player.  Punctual and reliable.  Computer literate with Microsoft Office and Outlook programs. OUTCOMES: Clients for the Shepherd’s Gate Counseling Center are screened and assigned appropriately for the student counselors providing an opportunity for an effective counseling experience.
