John Knox was born in Scotland in the early 1500s. His family sent him to school and John studied well. Eventually, he became a priest in the Roman Catholic Church. He was taught that doing good works was enough to get you to heaven.
John studied well.
After reading God’s Word, John realised that it wasn’t his good works that would save him from sin. It was Jesus’ death and resurrection that had the power to give sinners eternal life. John knew he had to trust in Jesus. A man called George Wishart was a good friend of John and John was George’s bodyguard when he travelled. John also earned his living by teaching the young sons of some local landowners.
John knew he had to trust in Jesus.
