Jordan Crossing Joshua 3:1 – 4:24 Michele Wilk 2/4-5/2014

I.

Crossing the River A. Preparation – Joshua 3:1-13   1. God gives two reasons to Joshua for choosing a miraculous crossing: to give Joshua ________________ with the people now that Moses is gone (talk about big shoes to fill !!) and to give the people ________________ in God’s desire and ability to give them the Land as He had promised them. 2. When God gave Moses His name, He told Moses He would be with him. (Ex 3:12, 17). From now on the pillar of fire/cloud will no longer be there. God is showing them He will still be present with them and active on their behalf.

B. Crossing – Joshua 3:14-17   1. Remember Joshua 1:8 “Do not let this book of the law depart from you…meditate on it…be careful to do everything written in it…you will be prosperous and successful.” Here we see God _______________, Joshua _______________, the people ____________, the crossing is _______________.

II.

Memorial – Joshua 4:1-24 1. “Remember” = intellectual recall + present action

2. “Fear” = awe, reverence, worship implying trust, shown by service & obedience.
