SERVE UPDATE

 THANK YOU FROM CADETS: Another year has slipped by and we would like to thank the congregation for their support of the Cadet program in prayer and with a generous offering. We also want to remind you of the upcoming International Camporee in Camp Elk Run, South Dakota, July 12 - 19. We ask continued prayer for the boys and counselors traveling from Lynden, while there and returning. Thank you again.

 WORSHIP PLANNING TEAM: We will be meeting on Wednesday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room.

 SERVE MAILBOXES: Check out the SERVE mailboxes in the back of church! Each student and leader here for SERVE has a box for letters and notes of encouragement. Everyone is invited to place encouraging notes in their boxes during SERVE week.

 HOUSING NEEDS: Brian K needs a place to live starting July 1. He is looking for either a room or a full apartment to rent. If you know of a possible place for him, contact Brian.  CELEBRATING OUR GRADUATES: We will be celebrating our high school graduates, Brooke B, Joshua E, Cody F, Kaitlyn H, and Mikaela H during the morning worship service and with cake following the service. ** Parents – please gather in the basement or outside after the service to help serve cake for fellowship time. ** Graduates – please gather on the front steps of church for pictures during the last song this morning. The 2017 College & Tech Graduates from our church include: Patty R with a degree in Elementary Education from Western Washington University Molly H with a degree in Accounting from Whitworth College 

REMEMBER OUR FIRST CRC MISSIONARIES

 PRAYER WALK FOR SERVE: All are welcome to participate in a Prayer Walk through the areas of First CRC that will be used by SERVE. We will meet in the Ed. Building on Tuesday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m. If you have any questions, contact Melinda B.  PIZZA – PIZZA LUNCH FOR STUDENTS: Jr. High & High School Students – Let’s stay connected this summer! Join us for a pizza lunches in the Loft. Our first lunch will be Wednesday, June 21 at noon. For more information, contact Dan H.  CASCADE FAMILY BIBLE CAMP – JULY 6-10: Invest in your family’s faith this summer – Cascade Family Bible Camp is July 6 - 10. Speakers are George D, Grant V and Kyle K. Register online NOW at www.cascadefamilybiblecamp.org.  FIRST FAMILY CAMP – SEPTEMBER 8-9: Plan to join us for family church camp, September 8-9 at Howard Miller Steelhead Park in Concrete. This is a great time to get together and be blessed with God's family. Everyone is invited, to a potluck dinner on Saturday night. A shelter and clubhouse are reserved for us, so if we need to get out of the rain we have an area to gather. For more information, contact Amy V.  MISSION TRIP TO NIGERIA – JANUARY 2018: The Mission Ministry Team is interested in a mission trip to Nigeria in January 2018 to meet Chris R when she finishes her assignment there. Projects would be tailored to the team member's skills. There are opportunities to participate in various training seminars, to assist a wheelchair production ministry and to assist partners with organizational/financial tasks.  SERVE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: As the SERVE week approaches and 62 people converge on Lynden to serve the community there are a few more needs that we have. ** KITCHEN HELP – Anyone who is willing to help in the kitchen with Candace L during SERVE week please meet on Tuesday, June 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ed. Building. We will be going over menu and signing up for shifts. If you can’t attend the meeting but would like to help, please contact Candace. ** ON-CALL NURSE – We need an on-call nurse or nurses to be available for questions and possible care. If you can help, please contact Dan H. ** NIGHT SHIFT – We need 2 night watchmen or 2 night watchwomen each night to encourage lights out, check the doors, and hang out in the parking lot until participants settle down (from 10:30-midnight). If you can help, please contact Dan Ho.  DONATIONS NEEDED: ** TOOL DONATIONS – If you took a tag home to donate a tool, please return your items to the Ed. Building by June 18. ** FOOD & OTHER DONATIONS – We are looking for donations of marshmallows, chocolate bars, and graham crackers for s’mores! If you would still like to donate food, please fill out the shopping list and return to Ria’s box (P-2). Also, we are looking for 10 cans of bug spray.  SERVE VOLUNTEER POTLUCK: On Thursday, June 22 we will have a volunteer (and spouses) potluck at Len & Bev H’s at 6:00 p.m. This year’s theme is “Authentic Community” and so we want to start by connecting with each other. Meat will be provided. Please bring the following: Students – 2 liters of pop, Mission Ministry Team/Prayer Team – salad, Spiritual Life People – salad, Food Team – dessert, and everyone else – chips.
