Today’s Worship Service Prelude Chapel Windows by Gregg Sewell Welcome Church Alive Call To Worship based on Psalm 38 (NLT) ONE: ALL: ONE: ALL:

We are waiting for You, O Lord. We are exhausted and our groans come from an anguished heart. You know what we long for, Lord; you hear our every sigh. Bent over and racked with pain, all day long we walk around filled with grief. ONE: But You know what we need, Lord; You hear our every sigh. ALL: People stand at a distance, even our own families. ONE: We await Your healing, O Lord; please answer, O Lord our God. ALL: Do not stand at a distance, O God; come quickly to help us, O Lord our Savior. ONE: Let us worship the God of healing!

Hymn There Is A Balm In Gilead

Refrain: There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole; There is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick soul. Sometimes I feel discouraged, and think my work’s in vain, But then the Holy Spirit revives my soul again. (Refrain) Don’t ever feel discouraged, for Jesus is your friend, And if you lack for knowledge, he’ll not refuse to lend. (Refrain) If you cannot preach like Peter, if you cannot pray like Paul, You can tell the love of Jesus and say, “He died for all.” (Refrain)

Our Story Prayer Scripture

365 Bible Story #179 (based on 2 Kings 5:9-19a)

Naaman arrived at Elisha’s house expecting something wonderful and exciting to happen. The prophet would come out to greet him, then perhaps he would wave his hand over him and say some magic words. But Elisha did not seem to have noticed the splendid horses and chariots drawn up outside his door. He just sent out his servant with this message: “Go and wash seven times in the River Jordan and you will be cured.” Naaman jumped back into his chariot and ordered the horses to drive off at top speed. He was furious. “Why should I wash in their dirty old river?” he raged. “We have cleaner rivers of our own in Syria.” But one of his servants said gently, “If he’d asked you to do something hard, you would gladly have tried it. Why not follow his advice when he asks such an easy thing?” Naaman’s anger was quickly gone. He laughed when he realized how full of his own importance he had been. He climbed down from the chariot and washed seven times in the river. Then he looked down at his body. The skin was as healthy and firm as a child’s. A great flood of joy swept over Naaman. Back they all went to Elisha. This time the prophet came out to meet his important visitor. “Your God is the only true God,” Naaman told him. “I will worship him too.” Then he offered Elisha money and rich presents. “I will take nothing from you,” Elisha said. “I am God’s servant and he has cured you.”

Sermon

Cure for Naaman

Pastor Graig Flach

Anthem How Can I Keep From Singing My life flows on in endless song; Above earth’s lamentation, I hear the real, though far-off hymn That hails a new creation.

No storm can shake my inmost calm, I hear the music ringing. It sounds an echo in my soul. How can I keep from singing? What though the tempest ‘round me roars, I know the truth, it liveth. What though the darkness ‘round me close, Songs in the night it giveth. No storm can shake my inmost calm, I hear the music ringing. Since love is lord of heaven and earth, How can I keep from singing?
