A Note from Pastor Phillips: Thank you for coming to worship with us today. If you are first-time visitor, I would sure like the opportunity to meet you and welcome you personally. Because I believe in a Sovereign God, I don’t believe anything happens by chance. I believe you were brought here today for a purpose. I would love to help you discover that purpose, and to see if there is any way we as a church can bless and minister to you and your family. Please stop by the Resource Center after the service so I can shake your hand. I’d sure count it a privilege. Pastor Harold ISRAEL TRIP: Pastor Harold plans to take a group to Israel March 9-18, 2019. The cost will be $3,300 each. You may make monthly payments beginning now. A $300 deposit is due by October 1, 2018 (note date change). If interested, pick up a brochure from the Welcome Center or church office. THANK YOU to everyone who made the Red Cross Community Blood Drive a success! There were 81 appts. scheduled, 76 that presented to the registration table on May 19; and a total of 63 units of blood collected from donors, impacting 189 people who need blood! Obviously, we had some deferrals for medical reasons – including recent surgery, still taking antibiotics; low iron, etc.; also some of our mission-minded people had been in malaria prone areas in the last year and are deferred for one year. Many people will be eligible again at our next blood drive. We appreciate everyone who was willing to donate, and those who helped out with registration, the canteen, and other needed areas. Lots of lives will be saved and affected positively by the gift of LIFE! God bless you all!! Marlene and Jim Backert

Thank you for joining us today for worship. Your presence was a blessing. If you are interested in learning about church membership, we have a “First Steps” class which meets in room 122 at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday. It’s a great place to start! If there is any way that our church can assist you or your family, please contact the office at 410-378-4476.

We pray that you have been blessed, and have found that coming to Pleasant View Baptist Church is truly . . . like coming home.

Setting an example for the next generation

Pleasant View Baptist Church is a smokefree campus. We encourage you to refrain from smoking while on the premises. If you must smoke while here, please do so in your car. If you have any questions, please ask one of our Pastors.

OPERATION ENCOURAGEMENT: As many of you know, Matthew Grant (Ben and Joan Sheets’ grandson) has been in and out of the hospital over the past few weeks with substantial health problems. Poor Matthew, who is 11, has been through the wringer (as has his mom, Brandy). One thing that Matthew absolutely LOVES is to get cards in the mail! We are asking every family in the church to send Matthew a get well or encouragement card to brighten his day (and his mama could use some encouragement as well). Cards may be sent to Matthew and Brandy at 23 Kimberly Avenue, New Providence, PA 17560. Let’s overwhelm Matthew with God’s love!

OFFICE HOURS: Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Requests and questions received via email and phone messages after close of business Thursday afternoon will be addressed as soon as possible upon our return to the office. It’s our privilege to serve our Church family. Thank you!

MILITARY BIBLE STICK CAMPAIGN A Bible Stick is an audio drama presentation of the New Testament that is simple and easy to use. It’s designed to follow a 40-day plan, listening 28 minutes a day, and is powered by one AAA battery. Its portable nature makes it perfect for deployed soldiers! Last month, U.S. Military chaplains received 27,500 requests for Bible Sticks. Below are some testimonies directly from soldiers who have received Bible sticks:  This free Bible is my daily bread. Thanks for such a wonderful gift. Rank: E4 Branch: Army  Able to listen at times that are available, would not otherwise be able to “read” the Bible. Thanks.  I enjoy listening to the BibleStick while working around the house and before bedtime. It helps me the most when you can’t read but you can always listen. Rank: CPL Branch: USMC  Being away from my little brother is hard. Thanks to the BibleStick, I know God is watching over him. Rank: PV2 Branch: Army We will be collecting for Bible Sticks from May 20 to July 4. Our goal is $7,500, which would provide them for three full battalions! If you are interested in providing one or more Bible Sticks, please call Lauree in the church office, or place your gift in the offering plate with “BIBLESTICKS” in the memo area of your check. Each Bible Stick costs $25. THANK YOU! 5

WE NEED SUPPLIES FOR VBS! Vacation Bible School will run Sunday Thursday, June 24-28, and we are beginning to gather items needed to make it great! We need: Test tubes & racks Beakers Microscopes White Lab Coats Petri Dishes  Large & small Styrofoam balls Anything “science” If you would like your items returned, please label them with your name and phone number. Please leave all donated/loaned items in the coat closet labeled “VBS.” See Sandy Goins with any questions. Thanks!

NOTE: We also need about 80 plastic 2-litre bottles for crafts. After your summer picnics & graduation parties, please rinse out your used 2-litre bottles instead of throwing them away, and leave them in the coat closet for VBS (1-litre bottles are also needed.) Thank you!

LADIES’ BIBLE STUDY BEGINNING IN SEPTEMBER

Ladies (and teenage girls), you are invited to attend an eight-week Bible study using the book The Armor of God authored by Priscilla Shirer (daughter of Tony Evans). Danielle Bane will facilitate the study. There will be a video presentation each week to be used in conjunction with a book and study guide (available at Lifeway Christian store or Amazon.com). The study will begin Monday, September 10 and will run from 6 to 8 p.m. in room 114.

If you have questions, please see Danielle Bane. YOU’RE INVITED TO JOIN THE TEA TIME QUILTERS This quilting group meets the second Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Youth Center to quilt and share fellowship. We also share devotions, quilting ideas & techniques, mission projects, road trips and each others’ company! If you are interested in quilting, come visit for a meeting or two to see if you’d like to be a part of this group of talented women. We’d love to have you join us! If you have any questions, please contact Deb Dodsworth at 410-378-0620.

Our public servants and first responders are facing more dangerous and uncertain times in their occupations these days. While we watch the news and shake our heads at the senseless acts of those who seemingly care only about making headlines, our men and women are out there on the front lines, putting themselves between us and danger. Please pray for those in our church and church family members who are serving as police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians. To add a name to this prayer list, please call the office so we can support him/her in prayer. Thank you.
