Sign up to take part in Dinners for 8 on Wednesday night, June 28, from 5:30-7:30! If you have not participated in a Dinners for 8 in the past, here is how it works: 1. One family hosts people in their home, providing the main course. 2. One family agrees to bring an appetizer. 3. One family agrees to bring a salad or side dish. 4. One family agrees to bring a dessert. To participate, sign up by Wednesday, June 21, in one of three ways: fill out a card that will be provided in the sanctuary and place your card in the offering plate, call Timothy Gibson at (662) 234-3515, or sign up online at gotofirst.org.

Here's what people are saying about Dinners for 8 ... "It's great; everyone should do it!" Do not ignore the voice of the people. Be sure to sign up today!

We are originally from Hattiesburg, Miss., just a couple hours north of New Orleans. And much to the dismay of many people whom we love, we are both graduates of Ole Miss. Jessica has a master's degree in Accountancy, and I have a bachelor's degree. I also squeaked through a master's program at NOBTS.

More to LOVE about First

We started talking about the possibility of planting back in 2011. As the Elmwood area continued to explode with development, it became clear that we were going to stay home and plant here. As a church, we're seeking to love God and love people in the Elmwood area. We're plugging into the lives of our neighbors and coworkers to introduce them to Jesus. Our goal is to be a vibrant church focused on reaching the unchurched in our community and throughout the world.

by Brooke Hutson Gibson

Each Sunday, there are volunteers who work behind the scenes to help make our 50 Sunday School classes a success. Our Sunday School directors help secure teachers, make sure each class has supplies and resources, and assist with records/guest cards. Our current directors are: Matt Moore (Adults), Cindy & Dan Reed (Youth), Whitney Simon (Children), and Jennifer Spencer (Preschool). "Matt, the Reeds, Whitney, and Jennifer go above and beyond to help our Sunday School program at the church run smoothly. They volunteer countless hours, and I am extremely grateful for their commitment to serve," said Timothy Gibson, Education Pastor.

Sunday School is an integral part of our mission, and these volunteers are just one more thing to love about First!
