Lost Dog Rescued by Homeowner

We would like to thank a guy by the name of Doug for rescuing a Siberian Husky that got out of the backyard on Wed. July 4th.  The dog had only been out for about ½ hour and had already gotten all the way to Starbucks off of Kings Manor Drive.  If it was not for Doug who took hold of the dog and was taking the dog to his home when we came upon him while driving around trying to find the dog, the dog could have been hit by a car on Kingwood Drive. Even if we had not seen Doug walking with the dog, he had already called the phone number on the dog’s tag to find the owner. This dog was rescued in less than an hour thanks to Doug. Thanks again Doug for being a good Samaritan. Catherine & Debbie - Notice to all dog owners to please put name tags on your dogs as this will help in getting your dog rescued.

Leash Law – There is one

I am sure I am typing for no reason, but I have to say it. Keep your dog on a leash! There have been dogs loose in the subdivision and this is unfair to your neighbors that have to clean up after them. Dogs have been hit many times as they roam the streets. If you do not want to lose your pet, keep them in your backyard or in your house. Keep your pets on a leash when they are out of their yards or homes.

Neighborhood Watch Volunteers Needed

Due to the recent on goings in Kings Manor we are asking for volunteers to participate in a neighborhood watch so that we can get the crime under control and make Kings Manor a safe and pleasant place to live. I have had several people that have showed interest in getting a committee together and also have volunteered their time to the cause. Those interested in volunteering their time please get in touch with me via the advisory board email. [email protected] We all need to rise to the occasion and work together as a team. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.

Kings Manor Survey Corner

(re: hobbies) Needlepoint; From a homeowner - I belong to the Lake Houston Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild. We meet at the Chevron Building on Kingwood Drive at 6:45 on the second Thursday of every month. All are welcome. The location is a short drive from Kings Manor. - Do you want to join Kingwood Service Association? Over a year ago we did not have enough homeowners interested in joining KSA. I have had emails asking about joining again. Here is a bit of information about KSA with the Pros and Cons. Joining KSA will get you a K-sticker. A K-sticker will allow you to use the boat ramp at River Grove Park and you will be allowed to use all parks within Kingwood. Without a K-sticker, you will be towed if you are parked at the boat ramp and/or any of the parks. If you are parked at any of the sport fields, you will not be towed. These fields are leased by the sport leagues. On an average, subdivisions in Kingwood pay between $60 - $75 extra a year for Parks and Trails. This is on top of our current Association Dues. We have over 1000 homes in Kings Manor. If you are wanting to join KSA, you will need to email me, kmadvisorycomm@ yahoo.com or call SCS, 281-463-1777 to vote on this issue. If we do not get at least 50 homeowners to vote, this will go no further. If we have the majority of homeowners voting yes, it will go to a mail out vote. So Vote! Neighborhood Crime Alert – Be alert. Be on the watch

There have been several instances in the neighborhood where items have been stolen from garages, doors have been kicked in, homes have been broken into and items stolen, cars have been broken into and suspicious vehicles have been seen in the area. Be alert theft activity is happening in our neighborhood. Keep your garage doors shut when you are not outside to watch over your property, lock your doors and your vehicles. Don’t leave valuables in your vehicles.  Make sure you contact your local police dept. if you see or have anything happen to you.  Get license numbers, description of the vehicle and description of the person(s). Have your police dept phone numbers handy. Put them in your cell phones and program them in your home phone.  They are listed in the newsletter. Use the 911 emergency number if the theft is in progress. E-mail us at [email protected] if you hear or see of anything and we will send an alert e-mail to the homeowners on our e-mail list. If you would like to be on our e-mail list send us and e-mail

Landscape Committee

The Landscape Committee has been formed and it is their job to see that it addresses the needs/desires of ALL the Kings Manor residents. Their first improvement is to work on the looks of the Royal Crossing entrance. It will include moving the Kings Manor sign, if it is not cost prohibitive. Any ideas and/or suggestions are welcome. Our Homeowners Board is developing a policy on the use of the Common Areas throughout the subdivision. No activity beyond your property line is allowed. The Common Areas are the Associations responsibility.

Car Key Tip

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It’s a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar or rapist won’t stick around.... after a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won’t want that. And, remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there..... This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime. P.S. This would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can’t reach a phone.
