After nine years and thirty million gallons ... This plant of B.F.Goodrich Chemical Company at Avon Lake, Ohio, went into operation in 1948. There were 12 LaBour Type G pumps in the original installation, and by conservative estimate they have pumped something like 30,000,000 gallons of alcohol, plasticizers and blending liquids. All are still on the job 24 hours a day, and total repairs for the lot consist of a few bearing replacements. Since Type G is a packingless pump there has been no packing expense.
