Adult Volunteers, Thank you for volunteering for Summer Camp at Lake Tomahawk. Please read through all of the following information before camp. If you have any questions, please contact Jim Howard, Kelly Edmiston or Sherilan Harden in the church office.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS

Texas Youth Camp State Law requires all Lake Tomahawk staff members to complete the following items: • Tomahawk Adult form | available at www.firstcolonychurch.org/camp • Criminal & Sex Offender Background Screening | if one is not on file, a permission form will be emailed to you • Camp Staff Training| available at www.firstcolonychurch.org/camp Certificate of Completion is good for 2 years • Required Training Meeting | Either Children’s Ministry or Youth Ministry | see details below CHILDREN’S MINISTRY TRAINING | The Chapel Please choose from ONE of the following dates: • Wednesday, June 26 | 6:00-6:45pm OR • Sunday, June 30 | 12:15-1:00pm If you are not able to make either of these dates, contact Jim Howard at [email protected] YOUTH MINISTRY TRAINING | The Backdoor Please choose from ONE of the following dates: • Wednesday, June 26 | 6:00-6:45pm OR • Sunday, June 30 | 12:15-1:00pm If you are not able to make either of these dates, contact Kelly Edmiston at [email protected]

OPEN HOUSE | CHILDREN’S MINISTRY CAMP

Please be prepared to attend if you are a volunteer for the Children’s Ministry Camp! This is an opportunity for campers to meet the camp counselors. • Wednesday, July 10 | 6:00-6:45pm

CAMP PROGRAMS The camp session will consist of two separate programs: • a Children’s Ministry program for elementary students • and a Youth Ministry program for middle and high school students Each program will be filled with various activities • Bible study • games • sports • crafts • swimming • free time • and lots of great singing

TRANSPORTATION

First Colony Church of Christ is NOT providing transportation to and from Lake Tomahawk. see map on last page for directions ARRIVAL at Lake Tomahawk | Sunday, July 14 | between 3:00-5:00pm DEPARTURE from Lake Tomahawk | Thursday, July 18 1:00pm Children’s Ministry 2:00pm for Youth Ministry Note: NO camper can drive themselves or others to Lake Tomahawk. All carpooling is the responsibility of the parents and not First Colony Church of Christ.

MONEY FOR CAMP

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY Each camper is given $10 canteen allowance. Extra money may be brought to purchase souvenirs from camp store. YOUTH MINISTRY Extra money may be brought to purchase extra snacks, drinks or souvenirs from camp store.

CAMP COST

The cost for Adults going as volunteer staff is FREE. NOTE: limited to positions needed - once needed positions are filled, adults will have to pay.

CAMP PAYMENTS

Pay and register at www.firstcolonychurch.org/camp $50 non-refundable deposit due at registration. Remainder of payment due no later than June 30.

CAMP PAPERWORK

All Tomahawk forms MUST be completed and signed before you can go to camp (including changes in information on medical section). Please turn them in at the FCYG Central kiosk or the church office. Download Forms | www.firstcolonychurch.org/camp

CABINS

All cabins at Lake Tomahawk have air conditioning and individual beds for campers and counselors. Please remember to bring your own bedding: pillow, sheets, sleeping bag, etc. The Camp Director will make cabin assignments for all campers, counselors and staff (cabin assignments will be age appropriate with special needs assessments).

WATERFRONT

Campers and counselors have the opportunity to go swimming each day in the lake. The waterfront also has a blob, water trampoline, obstacle course and waterslides. Certified lifeguards will be on duty during all swim times and all campers will be required to pass a simple swim test if they wish to swim. All individuals in canoes or tube floating are required to wear a life jacket (provided by the camp). Please remember to pack an appropriate swimsuit and towel for swim times. Girls MUST wear a one-piece swimsuit or tankini that covers the midriff (a cover-up t-shirt will be required for inappropriate swimwear).

All medications need to be turned in when you check in at Lake Tomahawk. Bible & inexpensive camera

DO NOT BRING • • • • • • •

No knives, guns, fireworks of any kind No alcohol, illegal drugs or tobacco products No shaving cream, duct tape or water balloons No extra food, drinks or candy in the cabins No expensive clothes, jewelry or other items No electronics | TV’s, iPods, radios, video games or systems (these tend to get lost, stolen or broken) No cell phones are allowed unless there is a special need and a parent approves it with Jim Howard or Kelly Edmiston

DIRECTIONS

From Houston: Take 59 North to Livingston, Texas. In Livingston, you will take 190 East and go 19 miles out of town. When you have gone 17 miles, you will see the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation. This is a good marker to know you have 2 more miles to go. You will see a sign on the right side of the road that reads "Lake Tomahawk Baptist Encampment." There is a turn lane to turn left onto Midway Central Rd. You will go for about 1/2 mile and see a sign on the right. Take this road and it will take you right through the gate into Lake Tomahawk. 114.5 mi, 1 hr 55 min driving 2 hr 21 min with traffic
