Do you have a mountain top experience of faith (a powerful moment with God)? If so, share it! Did that experience help you later on in the valley times? Why or why not?

Learn & Apply •

If you witnessed this, how would you respond? What things would you feel? Would you see Jesus differently after this?

Moses brought the law of God. Elijah was the most famous prophet. Both the law and prophets point toward the Messiah. Why do you think these two were present with Jesus? What messages were being sent?

In Verse 7, we hear again (as in Jesus’ baptism) God’s affirmation of Jesus. What might be the reasons for this?

Following this, Jesus came down to the valley and immediately set a young boy free from an evil spirit that had been afflicting him. What does this tell us about Jesus, and the purpose of his power?

Read John 1:14, 1 John 1:1-4, 1 John 3:2-3. •

John witnessed this, and the resurrection. Reflecting years later, what do you hear in these passages about the impact of these?

What needs to be transformed in you? Pray for the Holy Spirit to show you one area of your life, you’d like to invite Jesus to be at work transforming in you to be more like him, this season.

Pray Lord, we want to live being transformed by your power. May we trust you, Lord, to work in us in the valleys as well as the mountaintops! Amen.

Of the Mountain and the Valley ~ Angie Way, Interim Senior Pastor The mountain of transfiguration shows Jesus has the power to save us. Jesus’ choosing to come down to the valley of the cross shows us Jesus has the love to save us.

Notes:

Kids & Students Today HISKids PATHFINDERS (for infants through age three) meets today in the Nursery.

WELCOME

to Community of Grace!

HISKids VOYAGERS, ADVENTURERS, & TRAILBLAZERS (for preschool through grade six) meet weekly, except the first Sunday of each month, when all generations worship together.

You are loved and welcomed in this place. Our love for you isn’t based on what you’ve done in the past or where you’ve been previously that has brought you here today. Jesus’ love isn’t conditional either.

REFUGE & CONFIRMATION (for teenagers) gather weekly on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Visit gracepeople.church/refuge for upcoming events.

Giving Give online at gracepeople.church/give. Giving online is a convenient way to give, designate your gifts and set up recurring gifts.

You are safe here. Take a breath and look around you. We may appear like we have it all together, but we struggle in some of the same areas as you. We are a community of grace, mostly because we all need a little grace and peace in our lives. Grace is here because Jesus is here. Mission of Hope Weekend
