Easter Musical! Series at a Glance for Kid-O-Deo (continued) Lesson 1: The Cast Who are some of your friends? Jesus had friends, too. Through their stories, we’ll see that we can tell Jesus anything. Lesson 2: Sing Out It feels great when someone listens to your story or idea, but not so great if someone doesn’t listen. This week, we’ll see how Jesus surprised someone by making time for her. Lesson 3: On the Road How do you show someone that you care about them? Give them a gift? Talk about how great they are? This week, we’ll see how Jesus showed someone that they were important to Him, just by listening to her story. Lesson 4: Curtains This week, we’ll meet up with Jesus and His friends for dinner. We’ll see how Jesus treated someone who was mean to Him, and learn just how amazing Jesus’ love is for every person. Lesson 5: Act II We’ve learned a lot about Jesus, but one thing He did is greater than any other. We know Jesus is God’s Son, and choose to follow Him, because He gave His life for us. Find out the full story this week, as we celebrate Easter! Lesson 6: All the World Did you know that you’re part of Jesus’ story, too? He has given every one of us a purpose, and a mission, to show others how much He loves them. How can we tell others about Jesus? We’ll find out, this week!

Introduction and Rules

2:00

Welcome everyone! My name is _______, and I’m super excited to be here with all of you! Today we’re in a fun series called “Easter Musical!” We’ll sing, dance, and hear about the amazing story of God’s Son, Jesus. Before we start, though, there are three important things for you to learn and remember. They’re our Kid-O-Deo rules! Rule #1: When I’m talking you are listening! Everyone put on your listening ears, and on the count of three, let’s practice listening! Rule #2: Keep your hands and feet to yourself! Do a little clap and place your hands in your lap! Rule #3: Stay in your spot! Let’s take our special glue sticks and put some glue on our spot to help us stay in the right place! Wonderful! Those rules are great. They help us pay attention and keep us from distracting others, so we can all have fun.

Bible Adventure

5:00

I love singing with you, Kid-O’s! You can sit down. In a few weeks, we’ll be celebrating a holiday called Easter. We celebrate Easter because of something amazing one very special person did. That person is God’s Son, Jesus. Since this is a musical series, we need some instruments! Let’s see, do you think you could all help me learn how to play some different instruments? YES! Great, what instruments do you think we’ll need? Let’s find out what the first one is. Flute Image

Can you show me how to play the flute by pretending you’re playing one? Ready, set, go! Flute SFX

Great job! Now that we’ve got the flute down, let’s see what we can learn when we go on a Bible Adventure! Bible Adventure Jingle Do This: Show kids the Bible. Easter Musical Lesson 2 March 30/31 6

Kid-Os, the Bible is a book all about God. One of the most amazing things God ever did was send His Son, Jesus to live on earth. While He was here, Jesus made some friends, who talked with Him, followed Him, and learned from Him. Jesus’ friends wrote down the things He really said and did, and we can still read about those things in the Bible! Today we get to hear a true story about a time when Jesus helped someone who was very sick. Do This: Get the Bible storybook out and sit down in the chair.

This story you are going to hear comes from the Bible, but we use this storybook because the pictures help us imagine what it might have looked like back when the Bible was written. The pictures you see in here are the same as the ones on the screen. Let’s get started!

Do This: Have kids help you “turn” the pages on the screen with an exaggerated arm wave. Picture 1: Jesus in a crowd

Jesus was having a busy day. He was headed to the house of an important person whose daughter was very sick, but a lot of other people wanted to see Jesus, too. Picture 2: Woman touches Jesus’ robe

A big crowd of people were all around Jesus, pushing and bumping each other. One of them was a woman who had been very sick for a long time. She reached out and touched the robe Jesus was wearing. Right away, she was healed of her sickness! Picture 3: Jesus stops

Suddenly, Jesus stopped. He looked for the woman and asked her to tell him what had happened. She told Jesus how sick she had been, and how He had healed her. Picture 4: Jesus talks to the woman.

Jesus listened, and showed that He cared about that woman, no matter how busy His day was. He loves every one of us in the same way. Series Title Slide: Easter Musical

Easter Musical Lesson 2 March 30/31 7

Great listening, Kid-Os! Jesus cares so much about you, just like He cared about the woman He met that day. He always has time to listen to you and help you. We’ve got a Memory Verse to learn about Jesus, but first, we get to learn another instrument! Can you help me learn the saxophone? Saxophone Image

Let’s play in three, two, one, go! Saxophone SFX

Great job! I think we’re ready to move on to the memory verse.

Memory Verse

3:00

Memory Verse Jingle (Auto-advance) – Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:17- When anyone lives in Christ, the new creation has come.

This verse is about what it’s like when we follow Jesus. Do This: Read the verse from the screen.

The word “Christ” is another word for Jesus. This verse means that when we’re living for Jesus, it’s like we’re new and different from before we started following Him. Since we’re being so musical today, let’s do something different and sing this verse together!

Do This: Practice the verse with the Kid-Os 2-3 times. Sing it the verse to the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” Know This: The verse with actions goes like this: (Open your Bibles) 2 Corinthians 5:17When anyone lives (point all around) in Christ (point upward), the new creation (lay back of hand in palm of other hand) has come (point to self).

Great job practicing your Memory Verse, Kid-Os!

Try it Out

5:00

I love worshipping God with all of you, Kid-Os! Next, we get to practice what we’ve been learning as we “Try It Out!” Try it Out Jingle (Auto advance) Series Title Slide: Easter Musical

We’re going to get to make music again, let’s find out what instrument we’re using next. Piano Image

That’s a piano! Can you show me how to play the piano? Ready, set, go! Piano SFX (5 seconds)

Great job! That piano playing reminds me of our Bible Adventure. If you really love playing the piano, and really care about it, you would spend a lot of time playing it and practicing it. You might take lessons and practice every single day. Spending time playing the piano shows that you really care about it. Series Title Slide: Easter Musical

Easter Musical Lesson 2 March 30/31 9

Kid-Os, Jesus showed that He really cared about the woman in our Bible Adventure earlier, just by making time for her. He listened to her, helped her, and talked to her. You can show someone you care about them, just like Jesus did. To help us think of some ways to care about others, let’s try an activity. I’m going to read you some stories. Give me a thumbs-up if you think the person in the story is caring about the other person and being kind, and a thumbs-down if they aren’t caring or they’re being mean. Ready? Sisters Image

Jenny’s sister, Hayley, talks a lot. Sometimes Jenny feels impatient with Hayley, but today she decides to listen to all of Hayley’s story, and give her a smile and a hug. Was Jenny being caring and kind to her sister? Give me a thumbs-up or thumbs down. YES! Yes, listening to someone is a great way to show that you care. Let’s hear another story! Playground Image

When Robbie fell on the playground, Jack just laughed and kept on playing. Was that a caring thing to do? NO. No, that’s a thumbs-down. Jack could have asked Robbie if he was ok, helped him get up, and maybe found a grown-up to help if Robbie was really hurt. Let’s hear one more example. Family Image

Hannah made a card to tell her grown-ups that she loves them. Was that a caring thing to do? YES! Giving someone a gift can be a great way to show that we care about them. Great job, Kid-Os! All of you can be such great friends and family members by showing others that you care about them. We have one more instrument to learn before our Big Idea. Let’s find out what it is! Easter Musical Lesson 2 March 30/31 10

Great job! Now it’s time to learn the Big Idea with Ranger Ron!

Prayer

2:00

It’s so fun to go Kid-O-Whampus with you, Kid-Os! You can sit down. If you don’t already have one of these, be sure to pick one up when you leave today! Do This: Show Kid-Os the Family Connection Card and the Memory Verse Card.

This Family Connection Card can help you remember what you learned this week and have some fun things you and your grown-ups can do for the next few weeks! This Memory Verse Card can help you practice the Memory Verse at home, so you can have it ready to say next week. “Let’s Pray”

Kid-Os, God loves when you talk to him about whatever is important to you, because he cares about you. God will always listen when you talk to him, no matter what time it is, or where you are. Let’s talk to God for a moment right now! We’ll put our hands in our laps and close our eyes to help us focus on what we’re saying to God. If you want to, you can repeat this prayer after me. Dear God, we love you. Thank you for loving us. Help us to show others that we care about them. Amen. Kid-O-Deo Slide

I have loved spending time with you, Kid-Os. Now it’s time for you to go back to your rooms where you will get into groups with your leader and other Kid-Os, have a snack, and do a fun activity. Have a great group time!
