The purpose of this activity: This will get the children into their Bibles to review the Bible story. Description: The children will use symbols from the large group time to find the week’s Bible passages. Materials Needed: “Treasure Hunt Symbols Lesson 8” from the Lesson Materials CD-Rom (The symbols are: Tomb with the stone in front of it, Sun and moon three times, Empty tomb with stone rolled away, Jesus appears to His disciples, Disciples talking to the masses, and a modern church.)

To introduce this activity, say the following: 1. Today’s Bible story was about Jesus coming back to life, and His disciples telling others about Him. 2. I have some cards with pictures on them. 3. The pictures represent different parts of this story. 4. I want each of you to open your Bibles to the first book in the New Testament. It’s called Matthew. 5. I want you to go to chapter 27 of Mathew.

For detailed instructions on how to do this activity, see the DVD.

During the activity, say the following: 1. Can someone tell me what this is a picture of? (A tomb with a stone in front) 2. That’s right, it’s a tomb with a stone rolled in front of the opening. 3. This symbol reminds us that after Jesus died, He was placed in a tomb. The Bible tells us about this in Mathew 27: 59-60.

Note: Continue through the rest of the cards. • Sun and moon three times - Mark 8:31 • Empty Tomb with stone rolled away - Matthew 28:2 • Jesus appears to the disciples - John 20:19-23 • Disciples talking to the masses - Acts 2:14 • Modern Church - Acts 1:8 After the activity, say the following: 1. These symbols show us that Jesus rose from the dead and gave us the power to tell others about Him.

You will have to race to the spot in the Bible where that part of the story is found.

For detailed instructions on how to do this activity, see the DVD. During the activity, say the following: 1. Can someone read those verses for us? • Tomb with the stone in front of it - Matthew 27:59-60 • Sun and moon three times - Mark 8:31 • Empty Tomb with stone rolled away - Matthew 28:2 • Jesus appears to the disciples - John 20:19-23 • Disciples talking to the masses - Acts 2:14 • Modern Church - Acts 1:8 After the activity, say the following: 1. The purpose of this activity: The purpose of this activity is to review the Bible verse and show the kids how to use the verse to lead their friends to Christ. Description: The children will write the name of a friend who needs to hear about Jesus and then commit to pray for the strength to tell that friend about Jesus. Materials Needed: “Verse Sheet Lesson 8” (from the Lesson Materials CD Rom) 1 per child, pens or pencils.

To introduce this activity, say the following: 1. Here is sheet with today’s Bible verse on it. Raise your hand if you would like to read it for us. 2. The Bible says that Jesus has given us the power to tell others about Him. 3. Sometimes when we try to tell our friends about Jesus we don’t feel like we have much power at all. Right now we’re going to work on something that will help us tell others about Jesus.

For detailed instructions on how to do this activity, see the DVD.

During the activity, say the following: 1. On the back of your sheet I want you to write the name of at least one of your friends that needs to know about Jesus. 2. Then I want you to write a prayer to God asking Him to give you the strength to tell that person about Jesus. Also, pray that God will give you an opportunity to tell that person about Jesus.

Note: Be prepared to help the children with the wording of their prayers.

3. When we’re done today, I want you to take this prayer sheet home and place it where you’ll see it often.

After the activity, say the following: 1. Jesus gives us the strength to tell others about Him. 2. As you look at your prayer at home, remember that Jesus will give you the strength to tell this specific person about Him. 3. In fact, let me pray for each of you right now.

“And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere...” Acts 1:8b

The purpose of this activity: The purpose of this activity is to demonstrate what can happen when we do not tell others about Jesus. Description: The children will run around and area. One at a time they will be told a secret. There will be one child who will not pass on the secret. Materials Needed: This help sheet, an area marked on the floor large enough for the children to move around inside.

To introduce this activity, say the following: 1. Today, we’ve been learning about how important it is to tell others about Jesus. So we’re going to play a game about that right now. 2. When I say, “Go,” I want all of you to walk around inside this area. 3. I’m going to tell one of you a secret. That person will tell someone else. 4. After you have told the secret to someone else, please sit down over here.

For detailed instructions on how to do this activity, see the DVD. During the activity, read the following: 1. (Whispering) The secret is, “Jesus loves you.” (Only tell the first child.) 2. Keep on moving.

After the activity, say the following: 1. Who hasn’t heard the secret? (several children should raise their hands) I told him/her to not tell the secret. 2. As you can see, all these people were still wandering around without knowing the secret. 3. Just like some of the people in the game didn’t hear the secret because one person didn’t tell it, there might be people in your life who will not hear about Jesus if you don’t tell them.
