What is this book called? (the Bible) What letter does the word Bible start with? (B) Who does the Bible teach us about? (God) How does God feel about us? (He loves us) Does God love just a few people? (no, God loves everyone) What kind of stories does the Bible have? (true stories) What do we call the Bible? (God’s word) o Today’s Bible Lesson (During the Bible Lesson, have the 4:10ers set up the craft on the tables) o The Bible looks like one big book, but inside the Bible is 66 little books. Imagine 66 little books inside this one big book. The number 66 is a big number. Can you say 66? Do you know what the number 6 looks like? (show a picture of the number 6). Can you count to 6? (have the children count). Can you count to 6 again? (have the children count). If you put two 6’s together side by side you can make a new number: 66. (show two 66’s together). How much is 66? (show the children the bag of 66 books). This is 66 little books. If we put all of these little books together, we would have the same number of books that are inside the Bible. Let’s see if we can all jump 66 times. (have the children stand up, jump and count 1-66 together, throw the little Bible books on the floor as you jump, then have the children clean up the books to put back in the bag and sit back down. If the children can’t jump 66 times at once, break it into sections or change the activity). o (when children are sitting back down and settled continue). How many little books make up the Bible? (66). Now that we know the Bible has 66 little books inside, let’s learn the very first book. The first book in the Bible is called: Genesis. Can you say Genesis? (children repeat). o Let’s open the Bible to Genesis and read the very first story. Remember that the Bible tells us true stories. (Read pages 10-25 from the Bible in the Class Basket).
