Liberal Arts The Navitas at UMass Boston program offers an alternative pathway to the University of Massachusetts Boston for international students who may not qualify for direct entry and who seek a supportive study environment. The Navitas UPP is equivalent to the first year of a UMass Boston bachelor’s degree program. When you successfully complete Year 1 with Navitas you can move directly into the second year of your undergraduate degree. All students entering the program are fully matriculated UMass Boston students from day one with Navitas.

College of Liberal Arts ■■ Prepares students for careers spanning the humanities, fine arts and social sciences within 18 departments. ■■ Develops skills you will need throughout your career: the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, to adapt to new situations quickly, to analyze information, to interact with a wide variety of people and the confidence to find creative solutions to problems. ■■ Graduates of the College of Liberal Arts are placed locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. ■■ Liberates minds and prepares leaders. Emphasizes undergraduate education, high academic standards and freedom of thought and inquiry. ■■ Provides exposure to a wide range of ideas, both popular and unpopular to develop critical thought and analysis.

Psychology Psychology is a diverse field, united by the common goals of understanding how people think and behave and how various environmental and biological forces shape behavior. By participating in the psychology program through Navitas at UMass Boston you will learn important perspectives to understand human and other animal behavior.

Psychology Major A psychology major may choose to pursue either a BA or a BS degree. The two tracks are similar, but the BS includes additional work in the natural sciences.

Social Psychology Major The Psychology and Sociology Departments offer a joint major in Social Psychology. Students who select this major complete a complementary sequence of psychology and sociology courses, and also have access to advising and counseling from both departments.

Minors and Interdisciplinary Programs Psychology offers a minor in Psychology and an interdisciplinary minor in Cognitive Science, in collaboration with Computer Science. There is also an interdisciplinary Program in Biobehavioral Studies and Organizational Behavior. Wherever your interest in Psychology lies, UMass Boston has an option for you!
