Liberal Arts The Navitas at UMass Boston program offers an alternative pathway to the University of Massachusetts Boston for international students who may not qualify for direct entry and who seek a supportive study environment. The Navitas UPP is equivalent to the first year of a UMass Boston bachelor’s degree program. When you successfully complete Year 1 with Navitas you can move directly into the second year of your undergraduate degree. All students entering the program are fully matriculated UMass Boston students from day one with Navitas.

Criminal Justice ■■ Provides a social scientific grounding to issues of crime and criminal justice. ■■ Through classes, internships and special projects, majors explore the nature of criminal behavior, its causes, and society’s responses. ■■ Includes required courses in policing, sociology of law, corrections, racial/ ethnic diversity, and research methods; the courses focus on issues central to criminal justice policies and practices, including mental illness, substance use and abuse, immigration, and gender. ■■ Approved by the Commonwealth’s Board of Higher Education for Quinn Bill benefits. ■■ The Career Services staff provides interest testing, individual advising, and workshops on job search, interviewing, resume writing, and assistance on helping students secure an internship in criminal justice.

Responsible for evaluating the evidence at the scene of a crime, the CSI secures, packages, and labels physical evidence for evaluation and analysis.
