Life Group Sermon Study CITY on a HILL Week 2 - February 10, 2013

Loved For a Reason Key Scriptures this Week: Matthew 5:13-16, Romans 3:22-25, Galatians 3:27-28, 1 Peter 2:9-10, Ephesians 4:11-16, Matthew 28:18-20

Break the Ice: A key part of healthy group life is making sure your group is getting to know each other and building good relationships. Break the ice by using a few of these questions to get your group started. You don’t have to use all the questions.  You have $15 in your pocket to spend on food. Where are you going to eat and what are you ordering?  Where have you seen God work in your life this week?  Share from the message this week the impact God’s Word had on you?

Engage with Questions: Read this week’s key scriptures and discuss the following questions/statements as a group: 1. Aaron challenged us at the start of the message, by asking, “What is the Gospel and who is it for?” Why is it important to keep the Gospel about Jesus and not about us? Leaders you may want to review Romans 3: 22-25. Aaron said, “God receives you as you are, accepts you as you are, but He refuses to leave you as you are.” Share with the group some of the changes God has made in you? 2. Scripture calls us to be the salt of the earth. Describe what this looks like? What are the consequences and challenges? Do you see yourself as an agent of change and redemption? How can the group encourage you to grow in this area? 3. Share how TPCC has impacted your walk with Jesus? Read Ephesians 4:11-16. What is the purpose of ministry? Do you find yourself wanting the fullness of Christ in your life? What is the benefit of moving closer to the fullness of Christ? 4. Aaron asked us to, “Be the Church you always wanted to attend.” What does that look like? How can you help make it happen?

Inspire Movement: The focus of these questions is to challenge group members to apply the study to their daily walk. During the week, take time to evaluate the areas in your life where the light of Jesus could shine more brightly. Share your thoughts with one person. Equip Your Mind: We encourage all life group members to take time to memorize God’s Word. Leaders, we ask you to find an avenue in which to encourage each member to put God’s Word to memory. Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little. Luke 7:47
