HPE Enterprise Maps Lifecycle Processes
HPE Software, Cloud and Automation
Lifecycle Processes Overview •
Artifacts have several lifecycle stage, such as Development, Production, Retired
•
Each stage has own specific features and each organization has different detail requirements for these different stages
•
Lifecycle process defines stages and controls transition between lifecycle stages
•
Lifecycle Processes are usually assigned automatically to the artifacts, defined and published by administrator
•
A Lifecycle Process can also be copied and modified so as to maintain certain values rather than having to be constructed from the beginning
•
Once a lifecycle process is assigned to artifacts, any modification of the state transition graph is not permitted
Lifecycle Processes Collection •
Most lifecycle processes come with demo data, they can be exported and reused in POC environments without the demo data
•
Lifecycle process is created from scratch or cloned from existing, then defined, then published so it can be used and then it can be deprecated and possibly replaced by a new definition of the lifecycle process
•
Lifecycle processes can be exported to repository archive (federation use case)
Lifecycle Processes Lifecycle Properties •
A goal lifecycle stage is assigned, so we know what is the default target stage of artifact when doing transition/target architecture states (plateaus)
•
Lifecycle is defined per artifact type – Root Artifact Type
•
Sub-Artifact types can be defined to include connected artifacts to the same lifecycle process. Use with caution since a single artifact can be assigned to at most one lifecycle process •
•
Relationships that connect sub-artifacts can be defined
Lifecycle process is associated with the artifact either manually or automatically. •
Artifact domain can be specified
Lifecycle Processes Lifecycle Stages and Transitions •
Defined in the UI, manipulated in the diagram with actions that appear on hover
•
Transitions between lifecycle stages are created
•
Automatic after approval
•
Manually after approval
•
Anytime
•
States and transitions are not required to be linear
•
Can be tree or even cyclic graph
Lifecycle Processes Stage Definition •
Task
•
Request specific users/roles to do something
•
Can be verified by a technical policy, so they are validated when finished
•
Policies
•
Validation checks for artifacts at that lifecycle stage
•
Validated daily at night
•
Approvers
•
Users/Roles/Groups/Contacts can be configured to vote to approve the stage
•
Automatic Actions
•
Actions to execute on stage change
•
Send notification e-mails, Remove Comments …
Lifecycle Processes Permission •
Artifact access control rights are set when entering stage
•
Who can read/edit
•
Who is becomes the owner of the artifact
•
Whether the artifact is shared between domains
Lifecycle Processes Collection tables •
Extra Columns
•

Lifecycle Processes Artifact View - Lifecycle Tab •
Show previous, current and future states
•
Let the approvers approve
•
Shows the results of policy validation checks
•
Let users finish tasks
•
Let artifact owner request approval of the stage
•
Let the user move to the next stage
•
