WORKS UPDATE WELCOME

RAISING THE ROOF AT BROADGATE!

On behalf of the Crossrail team working at Liverpool Street I’d like to thank our neighbours for their Rohan Perin continued support. Here are Project Manager Liverpool Street. my highlights of the work we have completed so far and details of our plans for the next six months.

Liverpool Street station reached a major milestone in April with the installation of the first precast roof section at the Broadgate ticket hall. This is one of 21 concrete planks that will form the roof over the southern escalator decline, and one of 53 in total for the whole ticket hall. The roof is expected to be completed by late 2016 and forms part of the final architectural finish of the ticket hall. Once all the panels are installed, the Broadgate team will top off the roof with a 1.5 metre thick concrete slab poured on site.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

1

EAST TICKET HALL

The excavation for the access passage from Broadgate’s ticket hall to Liverpool Street underground station is now complete. The Liverpool Street bus station reopened on 30 April. The ticket hall excavation has also been completed to a depth of 23 metres.

2

WEST TICKET HALL

All the demolition works at Moorgate are now complete and construction of the new ticket hall is well underway.

3

TUNNELS

The Liverpool Street station platform tunnels are fully lined and the concrete track bed has been laid. Excavation of the tunnel linking the Northern line to the new platforms at Moorgate has been completed.

JOBS FOR THE GIRLS!

White

Crossrail and Laing O’Rourke have built up a strong relationship with the City of London School for Girls (CLSG). In March 2016 three of Crossrail’s female engineers took part in a CLSG lunchtime career talk which was open to Years 10-13. They spoke about their education paths to become engineers, the challenges they all faced coming from different backgrounds and cultures, and of course the Crossrail project. During the summer holidays in 2015 the project has also hosted of the CLSG girls on site for work experience and are looking forward to a new set of girls joining the project this summer. In July 2016, the Liverpool Street team will be hosting a City Science Day for CLSG Year 8 (12-13 year olds) at the site offices. As well learning about the project, the team will be engaging the girls in an afternoon of fun and hands-on construction activities.

Crossrail holds biannual meetings in City of London to inform the community about current works. If you would like to attend this meeting or our Annual Business Breakfast please contact [email protected].
