Galatians 5: 18—6:10

SCRIPTURE Matthew 18:1-6 (NKJV)

Who Is the Greatest? 18 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2

Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the

midst of them,3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

4

Therefore whoever humbles himself as this

little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5

Whoever receives one little child like this in My

name receives Me.

Jesus Warns of Offenses 6

“Whoever causes one of these little ones who

believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. LEADER: This is the Word of God CONGREGATION: Thanks Be Unto God 4

RESPONSIVE READING Mark 10:13-16 (NKJV) LEADER: Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. CONG:

But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

LEADER: Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” ALL:

And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.

LOVE LIFTED ME I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore, Very deeply stained within, Sinking to rise no more; But the Master of the sea Heard my despairing cry, From the waters lifted me—Now safe am I.

CHORUS: Love lifted me, Love lifted me, When nothing else could help, Love lifted me; Love lifted me, Love lifted me, When nothing else could help, Love lifted me.

All my Heart to Him I give, Ever to Him I’ll cling, In His blessed presence live, Ever His praises sing. Love so mighty and so true Merits my soul’s best songs; Faithful, loving service too To Him belongs.

Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely saves; He will lift you by His love Out of the angry waves. He’s the Master of the sea, Billows His will obey; He your Savior wants to be-Be saved today.

“The tenth shall be holy unto the Lord.” Leviticus 27:32

Every Christian should strive to learn how to be a cheerful giver. When we give what does it actually mean? It simply means we, cheerfully give to God our tithes and offerings. Tithing honors God. Are you giving the Lord His tithes or your tips? The word tithe means to give back to God one tenth of your earnings for the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world.

When we celebrate Black History Month, we recognize, honor and acknowledge the contributions and achievements of those who went before us. “Your work is to discover your world and then with all your heart give yourself to it.” Norbert Rillieux (March 17, 1806 - October 8, 1894) A Louisiana-born, French-speaking Creole inventor who is widely considered as one of the earliest chemical engineers and noted for his pioneering invention of the multiple-effect evaporator which revolutionized the processing of sugar. Rillieux's invention has been adopted for the production of any number of solids and reduced liquids whose products are sensitive to heat. The manufacture of such commodities as condensed milk, soaps, gelatins and glues, the recovery of waste liquids in distilleries and papermaking factories, and the processing and production of petrochemicals all have used Rillieux's basic invention, or devices that are based on his process. “Health is a large word. It embraces not the body only, but the mind and spirit as well;…and not today’s pain or pleasure alone, but the whole being and outlook of a man.” James H. West Feb 10, 1931 (age 86) A U.S. inventor and professor who, in 1962, developed the electret transducer technology later used in 90 percent of contemporary microphones. James West attended Temple University before working for Bell Laboratories. He has received numerous awards and honors including induction into the Inventors Hall of Fame in 1999 and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation in 2006. West holds 47 US patents and more than 200 foreign patents from his 40-year career with Bell Labs. “Do not allow your mind to be imprisoned by majority thinking. Remember that the limits of science are not the limits of your imagination.” Patricia Bath November 4, 1942 (age 74) An American ophthalmologist, inventor, and academic. She has broken ground for women and African Americans in a number of areas. Prior to Bath, no woman had served on the staff of the Jules Stein Eye Institute, headed a post-graduate training program in ophthalmology, or been elected to the honorary staff of the UCLA Medical Center (an honor bestowed on her after her retirement). Before Bath, no black person had served as a resident in ophthalmology at New York University and no black woman had ever served on staff as a surgeon at the UCLA Medical Center. Bath is the first African-American woman doctor to receive a patent for a medical purpose. The holder of four patents, she also founded the company of the American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness in Washington, D.C.
