Maintenance Assistant Position Description Purpose: To serve the church by providing general maintenance, basic repairs, and custodial services to church facilities. Assist the Facilities Manager in related duties as assigned. Accountability: The Maintenance Assistant shall be directly responsible to the Facilities Manager, who will review the performance in accordance with procedures established by the Staff Committee. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: A. Maintenance Services (approximately 90% of time): 1. Make changes in the HVAC Control System as directed by his/her supervisor. 2. Replace ballast, tubes, and bulbs inside and outside of the church (including cleaning). 3. Repair and/or replace all bathroom and kitchen plumbing fixtures as necessary. 4. Assist the day school on small projects and the church with special holy day projects. 5. Dry wall patch and repairs, general painting, and touch up. 6. Install hardware and door adjustments. 7. Clean cooling towers as needed. 8. Replace filters and clean return air ducts. 9. Maintain electronic door schedule maintenance and key fob assignments. B. Custodial Support (approximately 10% of time): 1. Provide breakfast assistance and clean the kitchen and dining room for Tuesday Men’s Breakfast group. 2. Blow leaves, remove downed limbs and branches, and minor tree trimming. 3. Shampoo carpets and maintain floors when scheduled. 4. Use pressured tile cleaning system as necessary. 5. Backup other custodians with set-ups and cleaning as assigned. 6. Perform other tasks assigned by the Facilities Manager. The above noted position description is not intended to describe in detail the multitude of tasks that are assigned, but rather to give the individual a general sense of the responsibilities and expectations of this position. Essential functions will change as the nature of ministry needs change. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Communication Skills: Communicates effectively and professionally (both verbally and written) with all members, guests, and staff. Experience with HVAC Control System desirable. Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing. Punctual and dependable. High School Diploma. Physical Requirements: Must be able to: Walk, stoop, and climb continuously (rooftop and crawlspace), lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs., and climb a 20 ft. ladder. Required Schedule: Work 40 hours per week as assigned.
