M ANAGER OF S TEWARDSHIP & D ONOR R ELATIONS – Full Time New York, USA ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: The Armenian General Benevolent Union was established in 1906 and is the world’s largest non-profit organization devoted to preserving and promoting the Armenian identity and heritage through educational, cultural, and humanitarian programs. AGBU currently has a presence in over 40 countries, annually touching the lives of some 500,000 Armenians worldwide. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Manager of Stewardship & Donor Relations is responsible for designing, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive donor relations and stewardship program that promotes recognition of donors, deepens the relationship between donors and AGBU, and cultivates life-long commitment to the organization. He/she will report to and will work closely with the Director of Development and Outreach, and together they will determine the best strategies for effective stewardship at all levels. RESPONSIBILITIES: ➢ Develop an effective, personalized, and efficient acknowledgement process ➢ Coordinate on-going communications with current, lapsed, and first-time donors and document facts discovered through that communication into donor profiles ➢ Organize donor recognition events and other special events for donors ➢ Work with the Director of Development and Outreach on the development of an annual donor impact report and coordinate annual reports by gathering program and project updates, recipient impact stories, and financial updates for endowment donors. ➢ Work with AGBU program directors in New York and Armenia to identify opportunities to engage donors by inviting them to serve as mentors or guest speakers, to share their advice and expertise on committees, connect with recipients of their support, and attend meetings with key AGBU leaders and stakeholders. ➢ Develop a welcome package for all first-time donors ➢ Compose thank you letters and special notification letters for in-honor and in-memory donations ➢ Work with the Communications Department on donor stories for AGBU News magazine, social media channels, and on AGBU website ➢ Provide donor relations support to regional teams and volunteers ➢ Identify donors that are ready for Director of Development and Outreach to cultivate and re-solicit for a new gift ➢ Help update program materials and draft meeting briefing notes ➢ Develop and maintain a network of volunteers as needed for donor stewardship and donor events QUALIFICATIONS: ➢ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent ➢ 5+ years of experience working in a development office or specifically in a donor relations role ➢ Highly organized and detail oriented ➢ Works well independently but also as a member of the team ➢ Presents well with volunteers, board members, senior staff members, and colleagues ➢ Takes initiative and proposes new ideas but must also be open to ideas from others ➢ Professional attitude, pleasant demeanor, energetic and enthusiastic ➢ Experience with Raiser's Edge is preferred ➢ Respect for confidentiality of donor information REQUIREMENTS: ➢ Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills in English; Knowledge of Armenian a plus ➢ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook ➢ United States citizenship or residency required Ideal candidate must demonstrate core AGBU values: Trust, Accountability, Teamwork, Service and Respect for Diversity.
