*Call to Worship

Blessed are the eyes that see Him, Blest are ears that hear His voice; Blessed are the souls that trust Him And in Him alone rejoice. Arise and come to Jesus… Text by Joseph Hart and Joseph Swain

Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, said Jesus. And let the one who believes in me drink. As the Scripture has said, Out of the believer’s heart shall flow streams of living water.

*Confession of Sin

“Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!” (Verses 1-3)

Nicaea

Righteous God, We who own more than we use, proclaim more than we experience, and request more than we need, come asking for your forgiveness. We seek your salvation, then act like we save ourselves. We beg your forgiveness, then repeat our errors. We experience your grace, then act defeated. We rely on your power, but only in hard times. We have become confused and misguided. Forgive our every defection. Bring us to unbroken commitment and a steady trust, through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen. *Assurance of Forgiveness *Congregational Response

Offering

“Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!”

The first Sunday of each month, all loose cash offerings and designated checks go to the Deacon’s Fund to assist those in need in our community.

Sermon

Table Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Words of Institution

Arise and come to Jesus, He’ll embrace you in His arms; In the arms of our dear Savior, O there are ten thousand charms.

Preparation for Worship Train yourself in godliness, for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 1 Timothy 4:7b-8

Musical Call to Worship

arr. Patti Drennan

Pastor Steve Schorr

In his book Streams of Living Water, Richard Foster notes that “in our day the Spirit of God is sovereignly bringing together steams of life that have been isolated from one another for a very long time.” These six streams, or “movements,” or “traditions” are rooted in the life of Jesus and describe how God’s Spirit has moved upon individuals and groups of people with a particular mission. During the season of Lent we will delve more deeply into the six “streams” so that we might discover a balanced vision of Christian faith and practice. Some of us have had more experience or practice in a few of the streams, but we have room to grow in other areas. So for the next six weeks we have opportunity to assess our faith and practice and be challenged to grow more Christ-like by learning about and applying the others streams. The six streams are: The Prayer-filled Life The Virtuous Life The Spirit- Empowered Life

The Compassionate Life The Word-Centered Life The Sacramental Life
