“The Word of Assurance” Luke 23:39-43 Pastor Wayne Sneller

9:30 a.m.

March 11, 2018

Today we will look at the conversation between Jesus and the thief on the cross that accepted Christ while he was dying beside him. Listen to this message as if your life depends on it! Because it does! We are going to clearly explain what it means to be saved. What I must know to be saved. Five truths that saved the dying thief: 1. I must know I’ll _________ God after I die. - An appointment you cannot __________. “Everyone must die once, and after that be judged by God.” Hebrews 9:27 2. I must know that I’ve _____________ against God. “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 3. I must know that Jesus was _________ than a man. “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 4. I must know only God’s __________ can save me. - I am never going to do it on my own __________. - “____________ Me!” Luke 23:42 - “For it is by grace, you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 5. I must know Jesus will _________ me if I ________. “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31 - Because the thief on the cross _____________ his deeper need is not the pain he’s in, but the ______________ from sin he needs! When you say yes to Jesus Christ you know four things about salvation: - Salvation is ____________ – Today - Salvation is ____________ – you will - Salvation is a ______________ – with me - Salvation is a place ____________ – in paradise! ____________ is the hour to receive God’s salvation! 2 Corinthians 6:2 Not to decide is to ______________!

And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

Irvin Vander Leest traveled back to Mayo to have the staples removed and his machine turned up to hopefully remove the pain he has been suffering with for over 10 years. It will be a week before we know the results fully of his implanted device, but the pulse is slowly being turned up to hopefully manage the pain. Prayerfully trusting it will help. Steve Vos had outpatient corrective foot surgery on Friday, March 9 in Des Moines. He will be in a walking boot for 4- 6 weeks. He will then have surgery on his other foot, once this one heals. We pray for a successful surgery and speedy recovery!
