FAMILY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES - March 2019 How to Promote Learning with Children Who Are Deaf-Blind For information on promoting learning with children who are deaf-blind, we encourage you to explore the Open Hands, Open Access (OHOA): Deaf-Blind Intervener Learning Modules. This national resource is designed to increase awareness, knowledge, and skills related to intervention for students (ages 3 through 21) who are deaf-blind. The modules are self-paced and free, so you can enjoy them as time permits. The modules in the “Promoting Learning” section include: • • • • • • • •

Routines for Participation and Learning Calendars Intervener Strategies Social Skills and Peer Relationships Maximizing Vision and Hearing Accessing the Curriculum and the Environment Behavior and Environmental Supports Orientation and Mobility in Everyday Routines
