Matthew 6:25-34 December 23, 2018 – Rev. Rick Lyon

Intro Suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" (Luke 2:13-14) Isaiah 9:6-7 - For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder, and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and of peace there will be no end. Jesus: "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you... Don't let your hearts be troubled and don't be afraid." (John 14:27) _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________

1. Don't worry--God loves you. Psalm 145:15-16 - The eyes of all look expectantly to You, and You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. Romans 14:17 - The kingdom of God isn't a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

2. Don't worry--it doesn't help. Someone said: There are two things you should never worry about. First, don't worry about the things you can't do anything about. If you can't do anything about them, worry is foolish and useless. Second, don't worry about the things you can do something about. If you can do something about a situation--do it! And don't waste your time or weaken your power by worry. Page 1 of 3 Laurel Hill Bible Church – 1260 Blackwood-Clementon Rd., Clementon, NJ 08021 – 856-784-6200

Corrie ten Boom: "Worry doesn't empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength." _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________

3. Don't worry--you're eternal. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (2 Cor. 5:8) John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________

4. Don't worry--seek God's Kingdom first. _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________

5. Don't worry--live life one day at a time. Deuteronomy 33:25 - As your days, so shall your strength be. Lamentations 3:22-23 - Because of the LORD's great love we aren't consumed. His mercies never cease. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness! First, seek God's kingdom. Remind yourself that God is your Father. Put your Faith in Him, daily. Isaiah 26:3 - God will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him, because he trusts in Him. _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________
