Important Dates NSM is closed for the 5th Lesson Day on May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd NSM is closed on May 26 (Memorial Day)

From the Executive Director, Glenn Tietjen On March 22, 2014, we held our first student showcase of the year. We tried a new location, which was less than a mile from our school at the Universal Technical Institute. I really liked the new location. There was room for approximately 125 seats, which was the most seating we’ve had for any of our previous showcases. The Showcase sold out. Unfortunately we had several shows over-booked and one show under-booked. One of the reasons for this was that I was out of town on a business trip early in March and there were a lot of sign-ups that week. The other factor was that the Showcase wound up being on the opening day of Little League. That caused a need for moving students from their original show time to another in order to accommodate their game schedules. With help from the parents involved in Little League, I will not schedule any future spring Showcase on opening day of Little League. However, it was a GREAT Showcase, and it will be even better next time. For those of you that attended, thank you for being there, and thank you to those of you that completed our survey. Your comments and suggestions will make future Showcases better. The next Showcase will be in the fall. IT WILL SELL OUT. Please register early. There will be a limit of 12 performers per show. That will keep the show to a more manageable 45-50 minutes in length. Once 12 students have completed the registration process for any given show time, that show will be marked as sold out and there will be no further students allowed to sign up for that show time. Special thanks to those who let us videotape their NSM testimonial. The names of those people who gave a testimonial were entered into a drawing for a $100.00 gift certificate to NSM. The drawing was held at our Open House Party on April 5th. The winner of the drawing was Kendall Miller. On page 3 we’ve posted some pictures from the Showcase. Here is an internet link to these pictures and others taken from the show: www.InnerVisionImages.com/clients/NSM2014. Open House Party Our Open House Party was held on April 5th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thanks to everyone that attended. Here’s an overview for those who were unable to attend: Our photographers, Steve and Lee Folino, took individual photos of students. Happily Ever Laughter provided the services of Miss Blossom who entertained everyone with her face painting and balloontwisting skills. We held a raffle for three great prizes—congratulations to Tim Beck (a $100 gift card to Skip’s Music), Steve Shokar (electric guitar and case), and Jeff Scott ($100 gift certificate to NSM).

Facebook NSM does have a Facebook page. If you have not done so already, I hope you check it out and “like us.” For those of you who have photos or video of the Showcase that you want to share, please feel free to do so on our Facebook page.
