Having fun is a priority and campers enjoy many activities such as all kinds of sports, silly games, arts and crafts, and swimming or kayaking in beautiful Trout Lake. In addition, there is also a ropes course to challenge the campers middle school and older. The cabins and the lodge are air conditioned and have comfortable bunk beds. A non-refundable deposit of $75 is due with your registration form. The balance of $275 will be due two weeks prior to camp. Family discounts and discounts for an extra session are available. FROM THE CO-RECTORS

SEEING THE BIBLE IN COLOR Before we left on our trip to the Holy Land, many who had made previous trips told us that we would never read the Bible the same way again. That is certainly true. As we write this article on the evening of April 25, 12 of our group have left for the airport to return home. Two are staying one more night in Jerusalem before going on an extension to Petra in the country of Jordan. The two of us remain in Jerusalem tonight before going back to Nazareth tomorrow where we will begin our hike on the Jesus Trail. Tonight, before our final dinner all together, we gathered to share what each person found to be the highlights of the trip. Here are some of the many that were mentioned: The Sea of Galilee: Most people were impressed that at the Sea of Galilee it looks much the same as it would have in the time of Jesus. We all loved going on the boat ride and imagined Jesus calming the wind and the waves and walking on water. (See Mark 4:35-41 and Matthew 14:22-33) Along the shore of the Sea of Galilee we visited the Chapel of the Primacy. The church is simple and lovely with a large rock in front of the altar. It is said that Jesus made the fire to cook fish on this rock after he rose from the dead. (see John 21) The church is very close to the shore and we were all able to walk down to the water and cool our feet in the crystal-clear water. As we walked along the shore we imagined Jesus calling his disciples here or very close by this place. The Jordan River: At the Jordan River we participated in a service of renewal of baptismal vows. Here we began an impressive cooperation among the 5 clergy on the bus. (2 2

Presbyterian, 2 Episcopal and 1 Baptist). The Baptists wanted to be immersed. Most of the others wanted to be splashed. Almost everyone wanted to touch the water and renew their commitment to follow Christ.

and his family would have used.

The Teaching Steps: There is a place here where it is quite certain that Jesus walked. The bedrock from the 1st century is exposed just below the exit from the Temple that Jesus

The Garden of Gethsemane: Many commented that this garden of old olive trees is such a peaceful place to pray.

TR I BUN E Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Eucharist at Qumran: It was Sunday and we wanted to celebrate the “Lord’s Day.” Our guide went above and beyond the normal schedule to make this possible. We stood in the area that was the dining room of the ancient Essene community (where John the Baptist may have lived). It was very moving to share Eucharist in the middle of the barren wilderness within sight of the caves where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered.

The House of Caiaphas: The archeology here is startling. There is a first century road leading to it. Under the house is a dungeon prison with obvious places where the prisoners would have been tied to the walls. And there is a pit where a prisoner was kept by being lowered down through a hole. On the wall in the pit are crosses and the image of a praying man. Our group walked down steps that now lead into the pit. We closed our eyes and listened to one of our group read Psalm 88. As we listened to the psalm, another group in the buildings started to sing “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord.” We were indeed there in the same place where Jesus suffered for us.

The Body of Christ: We believe in Jesus Christ. We believe what he taught and how he lived. We believe that his death and resurrection gives us forgiveness of sin and eternal life. For the past week we have walked where Jesus walked. We have seen the places where Jesus taught. It has been amazing to stand on stones where he stood and look out over the lake where he walked on water, but the greatest privilege has been to travel with a group of people who know his love and his presence as the Body of Christ. We have seen the joy of those who know the Lord. The greatest thing is not just to remember the ancient places, but to experience the living faith. This pilgrimage has indeed strengthened our faith and sense of the real presence of Jesus Christ in his people. Blessings and Peace from Jerusalem+

Thy Kingdom Come

Ascension Day, May 10, 2018 through the Day of Pentecost, May 20, 2018 Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement, which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus Christ. The hope is that: people will commit to pray with God’s world-wide family - as a church, individually or as a family and that people will be empowered through prayer by the Holy Spirit, finding new confidence to be witnesses for Jesus Christ.

The Wailing Wall: The Wailing Wall, or Western Wall in Jerusalem is a holy site and the only remnant of

the holy edifice that stood on the Temple Mount. People from all over the world come to it as a place of pilgrimage and prayer. Visitors to the wall have long followed the practice of wedging small slips of paper, upon which prayers and petitions are written, into the cracks between the stones. During Thy Kingdom Come we will Pledge 2 Pray our most heartfelt requests to God. These prayers (written or drawn) can be for our family, friends, the Church, your city, the nation or the world. We will place these on our own Wailing Wall, aka the giant heart in the Narthex. After you pray your own requests, pray for others you see on the heart.

Your Kingdom Come: During Thy Kingdom Come (May 10-20) we will Pledge 2 Pray for places and

situations in our world. In the Parish Hall you will find a portable bulletin board covered with maps and clippings of various situations in our city, state, nation and world. Pray “Your kingdom come, your will be done” over those places and situations that stand out to you. Not sure where to start? Pray for the positive... healing, reconciliation, justice, mercy, peace, love, forgiveness, and salvation.

60 Minutes of Prayer Monday, May 14th: Join Rev. Meghan in the church on Monday May 14th at

10:30am. As part of Thy Kingdom Come we will spend 60 minutes in prayer using the Lord’s Prayer as our guide. We will conclude with Holy Communion.

Resources and Activities: There will be a table in the Narthex full of resources to pray Thy Kingdom Come in your homes. You will also find information on the bulletin board in the Gallery. We encourage everyone to go online to www.thykingdomcome.global and sign up to Pledge 2 Pray!

GRADUATE RECOGNITION WEEKEND: May 19 & 20 We will be recognizing all of our VPK, 6th grade, high school and college graduates at all worship services the weekend of May 19 & 20. If you, or one of your family members are graduating, please contact the church office and provide us with their name, where they are graduating from, and with what degree. Thanks!

Health Ministry News: Five Foods to Eat (Almost) Every Day:

You do not need a whole-life overhaul to improve your health. It’s the small changes that make the biggest difference. This is definitely the case when it comes to diet. This list of foods pack more nutrients into our diets for better overall health. 1. Salmon -- not only a healthy protein, rich in omega-3 acids, also provides bone-building vitamin D. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends we eat at least eight ounces of fish each week. 2. Brussels Sprouts -- nutrient dense in vitamins A, C, K , folate and potassium, antioxidants and 28 calories in a half cup. Delicious roasting with a spritz of olive oil and top with nuts. 3. Blueberries -- vitamins C, A, and fiber (may substitute another dark-colored fruit). Beware of fruit juice, because of possible added sugar. 4. Nuts -- healthy oils, protein, and vitamin E -- any type of UNSALTED nuts. Keep in mind high calories come with this food. 5. Plain yogurt -- probiotics, protein, calcium, magnesium, vitamin B12 and some fatty acids. Read labels -- flavored yogurt can also pack in too much sugar. Buy plain yogurt, toss in blueberries for sweetness and nuts for crunch, and you have eaten three of the five foods on the list! (This information comes from the Harvard Women’s Health Watch, May 2018.)

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS: May 5 and 6
