CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Almighty and gracious God, Who bids us come to Your throne of grace where we find grace to help us in our time of need, we unburden ourselves to You today, confessing our need for Your tender mercy; for we have sinned and have done that which is evil in Your sight. Please forgive us for every way in which we have offended You, in thought, word and deed, both in what we have done, and in what we have left undone. Cleanse us of all evil. Renew us in everything good. Restore us to prayerful and joyful obedience, that Your Name may be forever honored and adored, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We consider it a privilege to have our children in worship with us. If your small children become restless and vocal, we invite you to the children’s room especially designed for them at the rear of the Sanctuary. They are also welcome in the nursery. Older children should also be encouraged to come to church prepared to stay in their pew throughout the service.

One of our pastors will be available after the service to pray for you or to offer helpful direction regarding your spiritual life. He will be in the Gathering Room, which is the first room on your left as you exit the southwest door of the Sanctuary (closest to the pulpit). You may also send your confidential email to [email protected] with questions about your spiritual life.

“The Grave Is Empty. But How Do I Deal with Temptation?” Mike Stokke, preaching 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall As we celebrate the power of a risen Christ, this is a fair and realistic question in the lives of believers. What is the relationship of the sin that Jesus died to pardon, and our daily experience of (and sometimes capitulation to) temptation? We can find encouragement in being reminded of the certainties of what Christ has done – and is doing – in the lives of His people.

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Weekly Focus on Mission Partners

World Missions: Norm and Ruth Ann Leduc serve with Arab World Ministries/Media (AWM). From Norm’s office, communication goes out all over the Arab world to follow up with inquirers who respond through networks of missionaries and national believers. There have been several signs that “Spiritual Spring” is coming to the desert of the Arab world: nine Muslim background believers are being discipled by a member of a team in Jordan; there has been the greatest increase in number of new visitors to the Arabic evangelistic website (nearly 15,000 per month) with Saudi Arabia showing the greatest increase (since January, 16 individuals indicated they put their faith in Christ!); AWM’s “Open Door Friendship Center” in Europe is attracting more Muslims showing an openness to the Gospel; a seeker of twenty years from Tunisia has professed faith in Christ. Praise God that ‘Spring’ is coming to the Arab world!!! In the midst of this joy, the Leduc’s faced the sudden death of Ruth Ann’s father on Christmas Eve. Continue to pray for Norm, Ruth Ann, and their two children for a freshness in their personal walk with Christ and wisdom in Norm’s leadership responsibilities as they wrestle with significant issues in light of the current economic conditions. MissionUSA: We praise God that Service Over Self’s spring and summer camps are 100 percent full! Pray that the Gospel would be clearly communicated to the SOS campers and homeowners and that God would provide five high-school-aged men and two high-school-aged women from Binghampton to work with the college summer staff this summer.  Pray for wisdom and discernment as SOS plans for the future.

National Day of Prayer is an annual observance, mandated by Congress, on the first Thursday of each May. Its purpose is to underscore the importance of prayer for the nation and its leadership and encourage all Americans to pray for God’s healing and blessing upon our nation. National Days of Prayer have been observed in this country since the nation’s beginning. The first Day of Prayer on record was actually observed prior to the nation’s first birthday, in 1775. The official National Day of Prayer was established by Congress in 1952 and signed by President Truman as an annual observance. This day of prayer is for everyone; persons of every ethnicity and political affiliation can unite in prayer for our shared country, communities, families and futures.
