SEMIAHMOO MINOR HOCKEY BOARD MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, January 11, 2016 at 8:00PM SEMI Hockey Office Voting Board Members in Attendance: Andrew Grieve, Line Grantham, Marin Friedel, Mark Burgin, Chris McNally, Brent Cyr, Brad Kielmann, Jeff Wheatley, Scott Ackerman, Todd Hilditch, Lisa Weir, Sean Peach Non-Voting Personnel in Attendance: Dave Newson, Suzanne Cyr, Kathy Paterson Regrets: Ian Maguire, Pat La Roue Meeting Called to Order by Brad Kielmann 1. Adoption of Agenda Motion to adopt the meeting agenda. All in favour. Carried. 2. Review and Adoption of Meeting Minutes Motion to adopt the Meeting Minutes from previous meeting. All in favour. Carried. OLD BUSINESS 3. Winter Classic Wrap Up - Suzanne The Winter Classic was held on Sunday December 18th at the South Surrey Arena. We had all SEMI Hockey teams (except for 1 H4 team) come through the arena that day and play 2 fun cross-ice hockey games. We thank our sponsors: Boston Pizza, Tim Hortons, Play it Again Sports, Joseph Richards Group, ScotiaBank, Envision Financial and Buy-Low Foods for all of their support in making this day a success. We also had Santa make a special appearance, as well as ‘Jack the Giant’ from the Vancouver Giants WHL team. 4. Atom/PeeWee Tournament Wrap Up - Kathy Kathy summarized the Atom/PeeWee Christmas tournament that we held from Dec 26-30. It went very well overall with 24 teams in attendance. SEMI teams put up volunteers in order to get a 50% discount on fees. 5. Suppliers - Scott We received a cheque from Docksteader for royalties owing since 2011. Cyclone and Docksteader have been suppliers for a long time. Promoworks/Play in Again Sports want an opportunity to present their online/in-store options for SEMI gear as well. Dave, Suzanne, Scott, Kathy will come with recommendation. 6. Communications Update - Mark Received one quote for website update. Need 2 more quotes to vote on vendor.

Coaches Night - Dave Base Hockey and Angelo Maggio presented at the last Coaches Appreciation Night on December 5th. It was well received and the audience is trending toward C Div and Initiation coaches. We will try to have one more in February. 9. Hockey for Hunger - Dave The Hockey for Hunger community initiative was a parent driven activity. His company, Asurion connected with SEMI and Canucks to raise food for the Sources Food Bank. The team with the most food in weight would win the ‘Asurion Cup’ and tickets to a Canucks game. The winning team was PeeWee A3 who donated 1 ton of food. In total, SEMI teams donated 2.5 tons of food! NEW BUSINESS 10. Rob Bishop Proposal - Dave Rob approached us about formalizing his position with SEMI. Dave recommends something to tie Rob to SEMI, but ensure low risk – ice requirements, enrollment requirements, etc. Subject to be visited again. 11. Spring Programming – Dave We have committed to 12 sheets/week at South Surrey Arena and Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex. Looking at programming for 4-5 different age groups 2/week. Will follow up next meeting. 12. Next Meeting Date – January 25, 2017, 8:00pm @ SEMI Hockey office 13. Closing/Adjourn Meeting – 9:04PM Moved by all in attendance to adjourn the meeting at 9:04PM.
