Last week, Stanford grad and Harvard Law School Student, Darren Bartlette come to speak to scholars about his journey from poverty in the dangerous housing projects of New York City to opportunity and success. Saturday, our 6th graders spent the day at University of Texas in Austin. They experienced the products of several majors and even did some rock climbing. I am glad that we were able to expose them to a Tier 1 school at an early age. Interim Assessments are coming!

Scholars of the Week Each week we recognize our scholars of the week in our weekly Friday Assembly. Last week, these were the scholars who exemplified our CORE values in their academic work, effort and progress on our campus.

Interim Assessment round 3 will be the week before Spring Break. These tests are critical in ensuring scholars are prepared for the STAAR and on track for promotion. Save the Date! On March 24th scholars will have Quarter 3 report card night. Scholars that have received possible retention letters will meet with Mr. Lawrence or Mrs. Martin to discuss repeating the 6th th grade or 7 grade. Save the date. We will be raffling Spurs tickets.

6th grade Thank you!!

STAAR Countdown 7th grade scholars are now 11 school days from their ELA writing STAAR. This week we will still have ELA th tutoring for 7 grade. Please make sure your scholar attends each day they are assigned.

6th grade scholars had a great trip to UT Austin on Saturday. They were able to go to Science labs, botany labs, telescopes, hold sheep hearts, and visit dorms! Thank you to our chaperones.

Spring Dance March 10th The MoPa Student Council is throwing their Annual Spring dance from 6pm – 8:30 PM. Scholars may only attend if they have been present all week, and have not attended West Wing at all that week.

AR testing is open over Spring Break! We wanted to inform you that the AR online testing will be open during spring break from March 11th – 20th. We encourage all of our students to spend time reading independently and taking AR quizzes over the break once you finish reading a book. In order to take AR quizzes, all you will need is an internet connection on any internet enabled device; laptop, desktop, smartphone, or tablet. Don’t forget to earn an 85% or higher on all quizzes that you take! This will help you stay on track to meeting your Quarterly AR goals. If a scholar takes their cell phone out on school grounds the following consequences will occur:

First offense: Cell phone will be returned at the end of the day to the scholar. Second offense: Cell phone will be returned at the end of the day to a parent. Third Offense: Cell phone will be placed on a 30 day hold in the school office and returned to a parent/legal guardian with a $10.00 fine. Fourth offense: Cell phone will be returned on May 27th at 3:45pm and returned to a parent/legal guardian with a $10.00 fine.

EARLY PICK-UPS BOOK POLICY Every scholar will have at least one book in their possession at all times.

Leaving early = miss key instructional time. We encourage you to avoid taking your child out of school early. Please schedule appointments after school hours or one of our many days off.
