MESSAGE When Race Divides (Psalm 133)

Jason Webb (Senior Pastor) | December 6-7, 2014 | No. 6948 The events in Ferguson, Missouri over these last two weeks have proven one thing: racial tensions are still real in our nation and world. Some of us have strong opinions about the issues involved, and have listened to “experts” with even stronger opinions. And some of us have simply turned the news off, hoping life would return to normal. Most of us have felt hopeless, wondering if unity and reconciliation are actually possible. Yet God says it is. Psalm 133 says that it is “good and pleasant when God’s people live together in unity.” While that sounds nice, how do we get there? Thankfully Scripture points the way.

1. Realize the ________________________ (Psalm 133:1, Genesis 12:3; Luke 4:18-19; John 17; Revelation 7:9) 2. Admit your ________________________ (Acts 10; Ephesians 2:11-18; Exodus 20:4)

3. Listen to the ________________________ (Romans 12:9-16; 15:5-13; Mark 12:17)

4. Celebrate the ________________________ (Psalm 133:3; Genesis 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 12)

5. Respond to the ________________________ (Psalm 133:2-3; 2 Corinthians 5:18-19)
